HD gaming has created a three way-dependent game library between the 360, PS3 and PC. They're all relatively interchangeable.
The Wii is the only single option that offers something exclusively unique to itself.
Furthermore, Hardcore Gamers know the Wii is the future for better or worse and recognize that the tides will eventually shift ever more in its favor. The Wii right now is an annoying success for Hardcore Gamers in that "how dare non-gamers crash the party", and even more worrisome is the potential games the Wii will steal from the HD consoles this generation and the unimagineable possibility that Nintendo's next console be everything the Wii lacked and then some leaving the competition virtually no niche left to survive as viable competitiors.
Change isn't coming fast, Nintendo's October Conference showed us that, but it is coming and only the most foolhearty (or desperate) of fanboys would dare think otherwise, thus that is why Hardcore Gamers are anxiously hateful of the Wii.
Also Rol, another factor I think you're missing is the utter dissapointment HD gaming as a whole has been in terms of a fresh gaming experience. While certainly we have seen a great share of big name franchises grace the HD consoles, we're at best seeing the same games we played last generation with better graphics and the greater share of the library made up by inexperienced and less professional Western Developers. HD Gaming delivers the same gaming experience we've had for the last two generations. When 3D gaming started in the 5th gen, everyone's imaginations ran wild and some of the greatest and most creative games we'd ever seen emerged, in the 6th generation a conservative approach was taken to refining and streamlining only the most successful genres and franchises from the generation past, developers had become timid and sheepish, no one wanted to take risks. Now in the 7th generation with HD gaming, the process has become even more conservative and refined reducing game libraries to what can be likened to gazing over a car dealership lot where endless lines of seemingly identicle cars blur into one another as they pan out to the horizon. But now, developers have Online to use as a bandaid for their lack of creativity or new games.
I have a Wii and a PS3, when I play alone, I prefer PS3... when with friends, I only play Wii... so... SOOOO>>> WTF!

May I ask, what do you think of fanboys in general? (i.e. not just Wii fanboys)

Okay, I'm not reading 6 pages of replies, so I have read the first page.
The reasons I hate the Wii are in fact 2) and 5) on your list.
2) I detest the strong hardware sales because in my opinion the Wii does not deserve to sell that well. Of course, it needs the original hate first. So,
5) I hate what the Wii has done to gaming. I do not consider Cooking Mama: Cook Off a video game. People complain about having to cook every day, now you can pay 50 bucks to do it and not even get to eat what you cook!
It may be 'revolutionary', but that doesn't stop me hating it.
I'm sure some people live for WarioWare: Smooth Moves. I am not one of those people.
I do like your idea though.

I do not hate the 360 because it is similar to the PS3 in the experience it gives.
Also I hate motion sensing.
