The Dreamcast had poor software sales because the only people who bought it were the most hardcore gamers and arcade gamers. With the exception of its launch and a few months after, the hardware sales of the console were rather poor, so the install base simply wasn't there to buy the software in significant amounts. There's also the fact that it was very lacking in third party support. The games just weren't there. Most gamers at that time were more interested in what the PS1 had to offer. When the DC was released in 1998/1999, a) CD burners and blank CDs were still pretty expensive, and PCs from Dell, Gateway, HP, etc were still shipping with CD-ROM drives, b) broadband internet access was pretty scarce, and c) file sharing apps like Kazaa, Emule, Bittorent, etc didn't exist, so DC ISO's were harder to find and took for bloody ever to download.

Regarding the PSP, there are just as many techno geeks and hackers who own the DS as there are who own the PSP, so if downloading were such a factor, the effects on the DS would be pretty damn noticeable. Even for the average gamer, it's not rocket science to play downloaded games on the DS. According to everyone who makes the claim that "people pirate because they're thieving ingrates who just want something for free! LOL" the DS should be suffering as well, because how hard is it for someone to go to Amazon.com and order a damn flash cart?

That being said, it's actually easier to play downloaded games on the DS than it is on the PSP. All that's necessary for the DS is to go buy a flash cart. You obviously never hacked a PSP... the Pandora Battery is only for the 2000 models, and there are other ways to do it if your a bit skillfull ;) Also, you dont need bigger memory cards, because most PSP games are compressed ;) So a game like CoO wich takes up on a UMD 1.7 GB, can be put on for 600-800 mb space ;)

You obviously never hacked a PSP... the Pandora Battery is only for the 2000 models, and there are other ways to do it if your a bit skillfull ;) Also, you dont need bigger memory cards, because most PSP games are compressed ;) So a game like CoO wich takes up on a UMD 1.7 GB, can be put on for 600-800 mb space ;)

 

Pandora Batteries made from a Phat battery work on both 1000 and most 2000 models(minus the madden models and a few others with a specific motherboard).  The exploit was released right after the 2000 thousand was release so that Sony could not change them at the last minute and nullify the exploit.

Ok some ideas are just not possible...
Vibration-if the PSP had Vibration people would blame it for dropping their PSP. That is not a very bright add on.

Motion Sensing-this might be very similar as the vibration problem

Stopping Hackers- Now this is something that has actually helped and hurt Sony's PSP. Modding is what made the system so damn popular in the first place. If I could not mod my PSP to play GBA, SNES, and PS1 games then I would not love it nearly as much as I do. THey DO on the other hand need to crack down on their anti UMD hacking. If they can halt that then they are golden. And the DS is pretty easy to pirate yet the system and it's games sell VERY well. That is no excuse.

What the PSP2 should have...

-Right Anolog NUB: this was a given since the PSP's debut

-Flip Screens: this would correct the issue with the games on DS not being multiplat across portables. THe PSP's sleek design was made to have a flip screen like cell phones today. I mainly want this becuz I want the lower screen to be used for txt messaging between friends if and when I get online with PSP. This would be awsome. It could even have built in video chat.

-updated flash,etc: This would help when ppl want to surf on the web with the PSP. The PSP should have been also capable of playing videos other then MP4.

-built in HDD: this would be great as well. Every PSP could come standard with a minimum of 1gb of HDD space. Allowing many to upgrade later if needed.

-built in TV tuner

-PS3 interactivity

-A camera would help too. It would be awsome to take pics and record video on PSP.

Pretty much make a PSP2 a DS,Cell Phone, and Laptop all rolled into one! IT WILL BE MAGNIFICENT!!

And can you bundle it with headphones again??? Please??......

On a more serious note:

-I think the system could be a bit more comfortable.

-Some sort of second display or keybad that could slide from the back
and on to the bottom for texting during games or something. [Conflict
might be found with the UMD's though]

-Improved CPU and Ram for faster load times.

-Better energy use, the thing has poor battery life across all sku's.

-Wish the buttons felt kinda more like the DS.

-Something needs to be done about the sad 3rd party support.

-MY HEAD PHONES... PLEASE!!!????

-Maybe some internal storage space, or the option of SD cards AND
mem sticks.

Hmmm... that's all I can think of......
