Hey man sorry I called you a troll. When you first started posting I thought you were serious. But as you continue I have come to realize you are just pretending to be one. Good job you really had us going, some of this stuff is just such so amazingly creative. You should really consider sharing your share your skill with the world!

Paul Warren is by far the greatest PS3 fanboy.

Awesome .

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

I believe it has a chance but that chance has become very slim. Some trends can show this happening but not many any more.

It's definitely possible but it isn't very likely. PS3 > X360 for sure but PS3 > Wii only if Wii loses its popularity (which it might or might not). However, I must repeat, that I still believe that Wii will win this gen. I'm just talking about possibilities... It isn't entirely impossible that Wii will lose its popularity.

1st place is irrelevant. Especially to me considering I haven't had fun with my wii since I finished mario galaxy. shitty games are shitty.

I'm more interested in the ps3 vs 360 race. I already got a ps3, mainly cause the game I really want is gonna come out on it first. So far ps3 is losing pretty hard, mainly because sony can't keep the console costs low enough to at least break even yet. So far, losing doesn't mean the same kinda death that the dreamcast had. I still think a 10 year plan is possible, but unlikely. If the 360 doubles the total install base of ps3 then we might be talking end of sony consoles. Not before then.

Phasma, do you have any indicators that suggest the sales will drop a lot by next summer? Typically when predicting a change in a trend it requires an influencing factor. What is the influencing factor that will cause significant drop in sales by next summer?

Well i think the wii is a fun machine don't get me wrong. But i think people get tired of it in the long run, there are good games to it but not many (more games coming i know). Games looking better and better these days and with the HD tvs increasing i think the people start to lean more to the ps3/360. I think the wii is a phase in the gaming world, it's fun for a while but then it gets old maybe if the wii was more powerful things could be different? It will of course appeal to people with families and someone you know, has one to play for parties etc. At some point the sales will go down, i think next year we could see a big drop, or after 5 years, you never know. Just my 2 cents.

Well, I kind of got tired of buying a wii really quickly. I bought just one and I never felt like buying another one. So I will no longer be improving on the wii's sales. For most people that bought the wii, it's going to be the same thing. So what matters are the people that don't have one yet. For them, what matters is the package (console + library). It doesn't matter if other people stopped liking it. If the majority of people think the wii is a better package, it means that tomorrow it will still be the better package. And it will continue to be so until something huge comes from microsoft or sony. By what we've seen so far, one game is not enough. A price cut is not enough. What would be enough? I don't know. I think the value of the wii is still going to be greater than the other consoles for the games and the remote. I'm not the one that thinks its sales are going to die down. So saying that people are going to lose interest in it is not really going to happen. The only thing that could change the situation is for sony or microsoft to add value to their consoles. Now what sherlock, how is that going to happen if it hasn't happened until now?

Had I been drinking milk, I am quite positive I would have squirted it out my nose when I read that.... pure win.

@DGC1808. By highest selling do you mean weekly? monthly? or lifetime total? because if the latter then I am 99% sure you will lose your $20. If the former then it's already happened, and I am sure there will be at least one further week where PS3 sells more than the Wii.

The middle one is the stickler, I highly doubt it will happen in the next 4 years perhaps if the PS3 does survive into the next generation for some reason, it will manage it in those early months of Gen-8

Well said, you got many good points there. But the thing is everyone has played with a wii. But i still think you may be right, those who don't have it may get. I also got bored by it a little so i didn't buy it. I have lost completely my interest on buying a wii.

A personal lack of interest in a particular sport does not mean that sport will lose popularity.

It's just an analogy fellas.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

"That is called a hopeful dream.

It's possible in my lifetime someone will find a way to make me live 100 years longer than anyone else before me and still be healthy till the end... it's possible that for some unknown reason everyone stops buying bread next week.

This website is about sales; past, present and future. The future part comes from analysing the past and present part.... mysterious occurences that make no sense and don't have any significant chance of happening aren't generally considered."

Yeah, well, when the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team was behind LSU by 32 points with 10 minutes to go in Baton Rouge, La, in the 1993-1994 season and managed to come back to win the game, and the same thing when UK was behind Duke by 20 points at the half-time in the 1998 NCAA tournament, yet managed to win as well. I think that there's no reason to doubt that the PS3 has any less of a chance to win than UK did in both of those situations.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.
