Forums - Nintendo - Reggie Fils-Aime: "There is plenty on the horizon for the core gamer"

Nintendo knows that, no matter how much the internet whiners whine, they will always buy their games in the end.

Doesn't he understand, to satisfy the hardcore you need endless high budget FPS shooters and expensive graphics. Anything else and you've forsaken the hardcore audience. Oh yeah, you must also have a Sony emblem on all your products as well.

Sarcasm, I love it

Gamer: Who the f*ck does Nintendo think they are, ruining gaming for use hardcores? I hate those bastards.
Store attendant: Yea, man. F*ck'em.
Gamer: By the way, have any copies of Nintendogs? My girlfriend wants Chihuahuas.
Store attendant:
...!

Nintendo has no big FPS or racer game do they ? neither do they seem to be getting one any time soon. So sorry if i don't just jump on what he says, like from the execs from Sony or MS those are just words from a suit.

Id rather hear it from Miyamoto, and perfect time was on stage at E3 to bad he was busy checking Reggies BMI to do so.

Nintendo's never done FPS (unless you count Metroid, but they don't, so you shouldn't) or "straight" racers (or at least they haven't in some time), and there are plenty of companies that do them well. Nintendo is wise to leave those to them (and yes they are developing for Nintendo).

What you're talking about are genres, not demographics. Most "core" gamers like a wide variety of genres, not just those two, and its not up to Nintendo to develop a game in every genre.

Nintendo has more Hardcore games in the tube than it has for any other time period and the amount of games that it is making for the new casual audience pales in comparison. The hardcore are just whiny and short sighted. They haven't come out with one piece of evidence showing any kind of a shift. Nintendo has just increased the amount of developers and gave the casual area the shitty developers. hasn't anyone else noticed that Wii play has games that are the equivelant of pong?

Just a thought. How about we just stop giving a shit about Hardcore gamers until someone can actually come up with a consistent definition of what one is (besides "gamers who like what I like").

You can't expect Nintendo to do it all...as a game developer anyway.

They put out a very wide variety of games as it is...it's not like Microsoft puts out any good platformers, or Sony puts out any good casual games...each of the 3 big companies have certain trends in game development, and Nintendo likes to be everyone-friendly, which means not too many uber-violent games...they leave that to the 3rd parties.

Which is respectable...they don't need to make every kind of game there is out there...Nintendo made the console, and then they made a ton of games to go on it, I don't think they're required to make every kind of game there is...though a true FPS developed by Nintendo certainly could be interesting...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I agree that Nintendo keeps too many secrets, it leaves a lot of room for doubt. I don't think we will get much more new info out of them this year. They don't go to TGS (which is now the biggest gaming event since E3 was slain), which is kinda odd... since a bunch of 3rd parties are showing off Nintendo games there this year. They always hold their own development show around then though so maybe we will get something else...

Nintendo slay. There is nothing else to it. They are making all the games I want them to make (sooner or later they will all be there) while making games that my girlfriend, mother, and daughter will all enjoy. Anyone bashing Nintendo is taking what they have/are doing for this industry for granted.

They are headlining E for all, so they may have stuff to show there as well
