Actually Wii Fit will outsell Mario Kart Wii,Wii Sports Resort might also do it.

Possibly but no one can assume that just yet. Though it is quite remarkable considering Wii Fit's price how it's able to do such large numbers. Might be one of the single highest grossing games ever made.
MK and GTAIV will both beat San Andreas' 12 month record... not sure about LTD sales... SA is STILL selling.

Lol, it seems so funny now looking back at when people were po'd that MKWii was getting 6 and 7s from some reviewers. It just proves the review system is broken. MKWii is becoming the most loved MK game, and GTA4 is already considered the most over rated.
Btw- MKWii is so much fun!
psn- tokila
add me, the more the merrier.
Oh, I screwed up with GTA4... forgot the last week hasn't counted America's numbers yet.
In that case, the race between GTA4 and MKWii will be interesting... it's hard to say, but if we're cutting off at 12 months, GTA probably has a better shot. If we include the Xbox sales for GTA:SA though, I'm thinking it sold at least 1M extra in the first four months it had, and I doubt either game can beat 13M+.
So, at the very least, Mario Kart Wii will still be the fastest selling game on a single console.
@OkeyDokey: MKWii will blow past San Andreas for sure. San Andreas is essentially dead, while MKWii has the potential to take on Nintendogs - it's no contest. What would be interesting is if MKWii can overtake GTA's sales in Europe or America... is that possible?

I think it will, and will go way beyond that. This game has scary legs :x

GTA:SA is still, selling, but that far into the future, MKWii will also be selling - and probably more than SA is now.
Case is, GTA:SA sold at full price for around 40 weeks. http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=Grand+Theft+Auto%3A+San+Andreas+-+PS2®2=All&game2=®3=All&game3=&weeks=204&weekly=1 should prove this, as a boost comes in, and stays.
Mario Kart Wii is going to stay at full price for twice that at least. This means that is has a boost comming in, that will come much later than San Andreas'.
San Andreas' legs are highly overrated.
San Andreas is at week 202, and sells just below 10k each week.
Nintendogs is at 177, and sells 60K each week - At a higher price point.
Super Mario 64 (DS) has better legs than San Andreas had (slightly) - and that's as hardcore as GTA:SA is.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

GTA:SA sold 12.15M in its first 12 months. It holds the record as of now. Mario Kart Wii should be able to have sold 10M by the start of 09 (probably more). That means that it is going to need ~ 2M sales over 4 months (15 weeks). Then it would need 133K/week sales to make it. A lot, but as it would probably have sold more than 10M by the end of the year.
So, what do you think? Oh, and Wii Fit has no change. It has 10 weeks to sell 5M (due to the early Japan launch) |
hey oyvo I think you miscounted a bit.
MKWii is out for 22 weeks
one year has 52 weeks (52-22=30)
so that means that mkwii has still 30 weeks to sell
Now 12.5 million - 7 662 017 ( week ending September 5th) = 4 837 983
That means mkwii would have to sell 4 837 983 copies in 30 weeks
4 837 983/30 = 161 266
MKwii has to sell an avarage of 161 266 copies a week to reach 12.5 million.
Even with a holiday boost it is very unlikely this will happen.

No it wouldn't have, because of the hardware included. Nintendo can only make 200k per week, no matter what the demand is. So even if it did simultaneous launch it only could have sold 52 x 200k = 10.4 million plus another million (probably less) in stockpiling before launch.
(hint: this is why nintendo staggered the launch so much, because they literally had nothing to gain with a simultaneous launch)

I (and others) bought a wii because I like the catalog, you (I assume) have not because you don't like it.
To me the HD consoles have a pretty baron catalog, to you the wii does. Neither is fact, they are just expressions of personal taste.
