Would you happen to own a PSP? If not, then possibly a PS2?
Only reason I ask this is because from what I heard plenty of the VA has been removed for the NDS remake of the game and the VA is the best part.

Grrrr, I am still playing Disgaea 2. It will be a bit longer before I get Disgaea 3. But the game is absolutely worth it based on my experiences with the first two. Disgaea is arguably the best SRPG series out there.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this. I love games that are so micromanagement intensive that you spend just as much time in menus setting up your characters as you do fighting. Anybody remember Ogre Battle 64? That kicked ass, somebody needs to make a new one of those. But till then I will be putting alot into this. It will definately hold me over until LBP and the onslaught of holiday titles. |
Hell yeah, Ogre Battle 64 was awesome.

Without question. I loved games like Tactics when I was younger, but once I got a hold of Disgaea for the first time (bought it because I liked the boxart) I was sucked in.

Despite these complications, Disgaea DS feels like a respectable enough port. NIS has managed to retain all of the voice acting despite the move to away from discs, and the story plays out as usual. In addition, new characters have been made playable (such as Dark Assembly receptionist Plenair). Whether or not these minor tweaks will help draw in Disgaea neophytes remains to be seen, but it's hard to see much of a drawback in having one of last generation's best strategy-RPGs available to a new audience.

That game has a ton of great voice acting. Some of the best, really. The first one is the best, no doubt about it, it has the best story. It's up there with any Fire Emblem game, and Disgaea 1 is one of the only strategy games I can say that about.
It's the third best japanese style game on the PS2(by which I mean jrps and srpg combined), unless you count MGS3. It goes FFX, FFXII, Disgaea 1, imo. Slightly better than PS2 Symhponia and FES.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

Dood, it could hold you over even past LBP and the onslaught of holiday titles. Disgaea is an endless abyss of grinding and micromanagement. You could plug hundreds of hours into it and still not see the end. If you figure 40 characters allowed on your team, each member at level 9999, each transmigrated and maxed out on each job and each weapon and accessory maxed in the item world, you're looking at one hell of a long ride. Good choice getting that game.

Then that is indeed good news, I thought the US version would get it gimped. I thought the Japanese version had some VA ripped out, so once again, this is indeed good news.

I think so. It's my favourite series anyhow.
I would definately recommend playing Disgaea 1 as well. It's THE best SRPG out there.
