@Millennium: Disaster was announced years ago. It just recently got a (new) release date after delays.

@stof: Like Super Mario 64, Twilight Princess, Eternal Darkness? Remember what Miyamoto said about delays.
But anyway, if the game have been delayed due to quality issues, it have been not good enough quality, but that doesn't mean the game would be bad after fixing the issues when it comes out.

Those are all games that were promoted through the roof. How many games have Nintendo delayed while simultaneously doing everything short of sending men in Black to bloggers' homes to stop anybody from knowing anything about the game?

where's the media for this game? hands-on impressions? gameplay vids? ... I have a real bad feeling about this game and some of you are definitely setting yourselves up for disappointment.

No one will care about this game, because no one will know about it. This will be a massive bomb if Nintendo doesn't advertise it. They got to start NOW.

How do they expect a new IP to be a hit, if no one ever saw a video of it. So probably Nintendo will announce tomorrow that the game is on stores in the US ready for purchase. Just imagine that, people wouldn't even notice the game.

I'm optimistic about the game itself, but not excited, since I don't know anything about it.

Let's think this way: (as I'm sure some people already stated in the thread)

What do you think the reasoning is as to why Nintendo is not advertising an internally developed game? My guess is that it's not a great game. That would explain the delay's and it wouldn't be hard to believe since this is coming from a strictly RPG developer.

If it showed a lot of promise, why wouldn't Nintendo be sending this around, and getting it hyped.

Because Nintendo hasn't been hyping anything that didn't have Mario, Zelda, Smash, or Wii in the title, even if it turned out to be a great game. Even MP3 barely got any marketing at all, and then there's Fire Emblem.

Ouch, that was fail right there. Men in Black was an awesome movie too, you must be quite a young whippersnapper to not have known about it.

Maybe they aren't advertising it because if it flops, they don't want their name attached to it.

Or, with Hurricanes afoot (Gustav) we don't need a game boosting from disasters. No game can match the real-life situation when you're in it.

But if this is coming out in 1-3 months, I think we deserve at least a Nintendo Channel video! Magazines ads, a keychain or something......

@stof: Whether the games were advertized or not, they all had huge delays, which the talk was about.
Anyway, we still have 3 weeks to the japanese launch and 7 for european launch, that's plenty of time to advertize it if the ads are ready to go. But now you're forgetting one important promotional channnel, the Nintendo Channel. Considering this game propably is a game that is supposed to sell to existing Wii owners, this requires less "outside" advertizing, but it does promote the Nintendo Channel.
