Forums - Sony - Here it is Folks! Why FFVII is one of the BEST GAMES EVAA!!!

@forevercloud3000
it boils down to the age old policy of "to each his own", doesnt it?
Its just your preference ,when you say characters should have a voice. The LoZ series has stuck with the silent hero, and look how popular he still is.
My point was that CT was simply more fun to go through than FFVII, which too is a highly enjoyable game. You cant just compare two games in some pre-determined fields, cause there always is The "X" Factor involved.

P.S i really doubt the FF series overall outsells the Pokemon series so maybe take it off the FACTS list?

I disagree. Im playing 6 right now, and it has more overall challenging gameplay, more lively characters with better designs, more intersting plot points. It sported a greater number of well defined characters, with different abilities. The materia system is basically the Espers system from 6. With the materia system it didn't matter who you brought into battle because everyone can be the same.

FFVII was basically FFVI for the mainstream, graphic whore crowd. It was
basically the start of the fall of the series and JRPGs in general when they became mindless, simplistic affairs to appeal to casual gamers who can't handle the challenge of older RPGs and prefer wannabe movies.

And overall the FF series is not even the best RPG series, let alone best game series, which 7, not being as good as the games that came before it, is barred from being best game of all time.

Wow, FFVII? Its not one of the best game in the series, let alone the genre or ever. The story had more holes in it that a warehouse full of swiss cheese. Sephiroth is one the most overrated and paper thin main antagonist in RPG history. The graphics and sound were worse than FFVI on SNES. The gameplay dumbed down to a level just above Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. I thought this was joke thread at first but sadly I was mistaken.

I was thinking ur post was the joke im afraid. If you are going to spout a blasphemous(and might i add, blatent flamebait) opinion here then you could at least find the courage to put a full in depth opionion as to why it is so bad.

Otherwise I am forced to think you are just trying to get a rise out of me, so begone you.....

FF7 is the best game ever because it's an easy way to find out if people aren't worth being friends with.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

The good people at IGN disagree.

Yes, obviously a negative opinion directed toward a video game is intended to make you angry.

There isn't a rolleyes big enough. Seriously, just go back to gamefaqs already.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Pokemon is only the top selling becuz it is always counted as TWO games instead of singularly. RED, Green, Blue, etc are counted as one game.

Plus I tend not to count handhelds cuz their sales are vastly superior to console sales only bucuz they are so much cheaper. They instantly become big hitters if they have a good game. Unless you are the PSP of course...

It is not the top selling game because of its different versions.  Rarely do people get more than one - look at Pokemon Yellow, it alone did over 14 million.

Also, handheld games are not vastly superior to console sales.  It only looks that way because Nintendo has had a monopoly on its software, and they've had a larger handheld market than their home consoles.  Take a look at the Wii, I bet we'll be seeing games pulling off similar numbers.  Anyway, I've gone totally off topic, sorry about that.

I liked VII but Sephiroth irritated me. The whole mother thing and the typical anime silent villain display just grated with me like Michael Bay movie dialog does.  That and Cloud reminds me of the emo kids that I want to put under the wheels of my truck.

VII was a good game, but it doesn't get within a stone's throw of my top 10 list of the best games I ever played.

I give this thread a 9.4.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

I kno, I just thought it would bring some good ideas on why ppl thing"PUTGAME HERE" is the best, over FFVII. Or why FFVII is SOOO terrible to some ppl (Who by the way have yet to give any reasons why, they just put this sucks blah blah...)

As far as the FACT that FF is the best selling series. I completely forgot about Pokemon. It does sell more but in a very unfair way. RUBY EMERALD and SAPHIRE are all lumped into one sales chart and treated as one game. A single person grabs all three so they can "CATCH THEM ALL" but in essense they complete one game. Its like playing FFVII and they sell the discs seperately. Thats why I did not have Pokemon in mind when I said that.

Last time I checked tho FF was in 4th place for best selling series of all time. Just behind Mario,Pokemon, and the Sims.

Yeah...FF VII wasn't all that great.

First of all, it didn't feel like an FF. At all. I hated the whole modernish areas and the slums and all those machines and crap. Felt like what you'd see in a shooter mixed in with RPG elements.

Second, Sephiroth's personality/character was pretty stupid. He used to be a great SOLIDER and that was cool. Then he learned Jenova was in that machine thing and he was one of those...monster things (forget what they were called) and then he went "OMG! NOOOO!!!! I WANT MOMMY!" and he tried to revive his stupid "mother" who was controlling him and Cloud the whole time and went to destroy the world with a meteor...for no good reason.

Also, wow. He killed Aeris. Was Aeris even that good of a character? Not really. Didn't care about her at all. Also, Tifa > Aeris. She was a good healer I'd admit though lol.

Also, the game tried to be too Western for it's good and I didn't like that. PLEASE...if you're going to make an FF, put fantasy in it and make it a Japanese-esque RPG...not some gimped Western-esque one. See...I liked FF VIII and IX because they did that (FF IX > FF VIII > FF VII). Instead, FF VII had some blonde haired guy, some typical Western looking women, and a black dude with a gun.

The game was also extremely ugly. They were some block characters. Even the CGI looked terrible. FF VIII and IX CGI was well done IMO. FF VII? Not so much.

The Shinra were also boring. They were just bald guys with suits on and liked to cause trouble. Whoop-dee-doo. The Sorceress in FF VIII and the whole Kuja and later Necron fiasco in FF IX were very interesting, not some crazy dude trying to revive his alien mother and burning down villages...for no reason besides "IM EVIL I CAN DO THIS HAR HAR." Enemies are supposed to have a motive not "I BURNED DOWN VILLAGE LOLOLOL. IM SO EVIL."

Sephiroth is pretty meh. I don't understand why so many people like him. Heck, it was Jenova that did all the work. Jenova is much cooler.

Though the FF VII crew are cool in KH I admit. But in FF they suck.

Super deformed characters does a Western-esque game not make.
