Forums - Microsoft - Eternal sonata 360 - is it worth getting

Honestly after playing Lost Odyssey, I would set my expectations pretty low for Eternal Sonata. The game has great art and great battle system but its just average. The story isn't that great, its short, and has only one side quest. You'll probably clock 25 to 30 hours on your first play through.

Pah...Eternal Sonata has got a unique charm, that it carries throughout the whole of its story, graphics and style.

Most RPGs these days don't have this (they all used to).

...Each to their own, but I'm sure everyone can agree its WAY WAY WAY better than Blue Dragon (that was proper shite)

Eternal Sonata is the best RPG on the 360 right now. Buy it. You will be satisfied.

360 Games Now Playing   360 Games unopened:  Resonance of Fate  Last 360 Game I Beat: Resident Evil 5

DS Games Now Playing: Dragon Quest VI  DS Games unopened Knights in the Nightmare, Etrian Odyssey III, Okamiden, Dragon Quest IX Last DS Game I beat: Radiant Historia

Wii Games Now Playing  Super Mario Galaxy 2, Arc Rise Fantasia  Wii  Games unopened  Little King's Story, Sonic Colors, Silent Hill Shattered Memories Last Wii Game I beat: Sin & Punishment 2

Eternal Sonata...Good & Bad Points:

Good:
Awesome art direction
Enjoyable Battle System
2nd Quest for Extra Playability (ie, once you beat the game)

Bad:
Story sucks.
Battle system is shallow
VA isn't very good
Money is incredibly unbalanced (you can get all the money you'll ever need within 15 minutes of starting the game).

It's a good game, but the story and unbalanced issues in the game make it far from perfect.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The part I don't like about Eternal Sonata is that you have to finish the game twice to get through all the side quests and the majority of the second playthrough will be exactly the same. If you can get it on the cheap then it's a no brainer.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

Since you can get it so cheap I think it's a must buy.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

The art style in Eternal Sonata is wonderful (probably the best looking game of this gen so far) and the music is great but there are some serious gameplay problems.

From what I remember is that game is just stupid easy. You'll never really find a challenge by enemies. Eventually you find this chick with a bow and she can actually heal your entire party *and* kill an enemy a round. It's just ridiculous how strong she is.

Then there's the money: it's worthless. In the first battle of the game you can get enough money to set you for a very long time. Part of that is because you just make a lot of money and the other part is because you don't find another shop for 20 hours.

And then the game has possibly the worst dungeon I've ever seen: Fort Fermata. It's like they tried to make every mistake in basic design they could.

Nope, I liked Blue Dragon more than I did Eternal Sonata. It took a while to get going but it was a longer much more rewarding experience and the shadow system was far deeper than the combat in Eternal Sonata. Even if you rush through it Blue Dragon is twice as long as Eternal Sonata and it actually has side quests.

Like everyone said the game is very easy. Money is worthless and it has a stupid story and wack voice acting. But it does have a nice art direction. Overall I thought it was a stupid overrated rpg.

Eternal Sonata is so far I played a good game but I stopped playing it after five hours because I felt a sleep with those damned cutscenes ( I hate those Chopin history scenes bah).
