Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart Wii is UNSTOPPABLE! *attempt # 2*

The reason that this is the best selling game in the series is simple. It's BY FAR the best game in the series. The online is great and the items are well balanced as far as I'm concerned. People that complain about the blue shells aren't good at the game. The worst item is the frickin' thundercloud. Swing on by to the league if you think that anyone can win because of the items.

The reviewers who gave the game poor marks had the audacity to actually justify and explain their reasoning, and further more they had the unmitigated gall to have a certain degree of standards. That does not mean the players are wrong however. Some people are easily amused, and the Wii install base has a magnificent over representation of that.

Are the reviewers out of touch. Well not in respect to their readership. Which is whom they are serving. People that are more serious about their hobby, and expect a greater dedication to a core experience however probably found the reviews helpful to know this was probably not the game for them.

Which is what most posters are having difficulty grasping. Reviewers do their job for the core gamers. Not for the casual gamers who will never even bother to read their reviews. Casual gamers want simplistic games in all senses of the word. So they are drawn to games that promise a very shallow experience, because more complex if not rewarding experiences are very much beyond them.

I think the game will sell over ten million copies this year. Carnival games is almost at two million. Wii play has sold fourteen million. Wii fit has sold over six million. The die are cast this is the type of game the Wii demographic loves without abandon. Shove out a peripheral with the box, or have the game be really simplistic. They really love that, and they probably do not care if it is of high quality or not.

The sales do not indicate core quality. They indicate casual appeal. Which does not mean the game is great as core gamers go. After reading the reviews I could see quickly that not only was the game too lax for my tastes, but that I would be better served just dragging out my 64, or popping Double Dash into my Wii. Good for casual players, but perhaps not for me

this is the best in the series,i never liked MK(only DD,but not so much)and now this is one of my fav wii games,it deserves it.
hopfully SSBB and SMG can join this to be 10 mil sellers

Oh they'll run out of marioboys soon enough.

It's really the lowest rated ever? What a load of crap. More evidence that game reviewers are out of touch with reality.

Mario Kart Wii sucks. 1. No dual characters per kart. 2. Each character doesn't get their own special item. 3. The graphics are all washed out. 4. Bikes. They are cool. But they shouldn't force me to ride them in 100cc. 5. Ditch friend codes.

Try getting a three star ranking or even better a 9999 point ranking online and tell me how casual of a game it is.

^i think its better that each character doesnt have their own special weapon, cause in DD if you chose the ghost pr petey,or both you would get all the special weapons which wasnt really fair

1. Although I used to daydream of dual karts with My Mii + Toadette, this would not work with the characters Nintendo chose. Where would King Boo go? How about Dry Bowser? Rosalina? Plus, to have this, there would be no unlockables.

2. Again, how would that work? 24 different types of specials would be too much to handle. List al 24 specials that are unbiased, different, and match the character's personality, then I will give you # 2

3. I'll give you graphics, but only in 3-4 player mode. 60 FPS is perfectly fine for Mario Kart.

4. Beat all of 100cc, or play vs.

5. FC's are with all nintendo systems. Get over it.

Funny thing, my kids (12, 8, and even the three year old) refuse to use the wheel because it's not precise. They only use Wavebirds, while I now prefer the Wiimote/nunchuck. And shockingly I don't miss snaking at all. It's much more fun to compete now, another good move on Nintendo's part.

The Wheel is not precise? Then why can I consistently pass right between very close bananas/shells standing on the track without loosing any speed?

Look, I know your 3-12 year-old kids have probably not achieved full control of their motor skills yet, but that is no excuse to bash the Wii Wheel
