hahahah 360 fanboys out in full force huh?

360 sells suck REALLY bad thats the end of it... ps3 sales suck for sony yes but are AWESOME for M$ in japan. 360 has all these RPGS announced for it and it still cant sell in japan.. theres just no hope sorry.

Yeah thats right cos the PS3 is at 2.3m in Japan and the 360 is at 0.64m... and in the States the PS3 is at 5.46m and the 360 is at 12.09m!!

You sir are the fanboy.   The 360 has way surpassed the original XBOX in a shorter time period and no amount of juvenile garbage like that you have just posted can alter the fact that the 360 is doing quite nicely in Japan considering.

Well i have to admit Dno, the Sony fanboys (me included) would be out in full force if the PS3 had managed a big victory this week. As it is, the 360 is on the upward slope at the moment, so its only fair the 360 crew have their say.

Meanwhile Nintendo fans are probably debating the weather or something, such is the wiis lead

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

What the Sony fans are afraid of is that people in Japan may be starting to realize that the 360 is now the lead home console for JRPGs.

Evidence: Rather than big bump right when a JRPG releases the hardware sales are gradually improving. People in Japan starting to say hey I can get a 360 for XXX JRPG and I also get to enjoy a pretty good backlog of JRPGs and I also have a nice slate coming pretty soon as well. This will also lead to more being developed for the 360 and the cycle continues.

I would like to mention that while the 360 has the most quality Jrpgs, this isn't by much, and could change to any of the other two console(more likely the wii). The 360 already lost the Tales Main Series, and could lose others. Also I think the Japanese are fine with playing their rpgs on the DS, and that IS the lead platform for Jrpgs. The jrpgs do seem to help sales though, but don't expect the 360 to be  much more popular in Japan than the PS3, if this does happen. I would also like to mention that while JRpgs are a popular genre in Japan, it isn't the only one, or even the most popular.

If 360 could continue this until the holidays it might be able to (partly of course) turn the tide and give the PS3 some serious competition (for the HD market that is).

I really believe the Square Enix support is the driver behind the increased sales. FF13 might not come to 360 in Japan, but it does mean some SquareEnix sign of approval. And Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant, Lost Odyssee, Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata are quite some JRPG's.

I am happy that the 360 sales went up this week.

if the first bolded part comes true -i hope not- then the next one is totally becomes totally wrong, it might come to 360 in japan

360 should die down to the 3k range once Tales of Vesperia is done with (launch week plus couple weeks afterwords). And to be fair to the PS3, MGS4 launched one and a half months ago (by VGC standards). The fact that it remains over 10k is still impressive given the market in Japan.

PSP sales are impressive, DS is staying strong, and the Wii being steady as usual. Many of the best selling consoles in Japan have had steady sales even when the other consoles were seeing erratic boosts or drops.

Montana what does Tales of Vesperia have to do with anything. The game isn't even out yet. 360 sales have been on the uptick for quite some time. They are still pitiful in the overall view but better than before. As for 10k for the PS3 being impressive, how so? The 360, a console expected to bomb in Japan, is doing half that amount and the PS3 is the successor to the consoles that dominated the prior two generations in Japan. As bad as the 360 is doing it is doing better than its predecessor, there is no quantifiable measure in which the PS3 sales in Japan are impressive.

Because it releases next week and some people probably want to buy it now, rather then during the rush when the game releases?

As for his PS3 comment, he says "given the market in Japan", which therefore causes his prior statement to make sense.

Did you read Kowenicki's post, 360 sales have been on the rise for the past two months. I stand by my original statement. What does ToV have to do with anything when the game isn't even out yet. If ToV was out and the sales were increasing because of it, I'd agree with Montana's assessment but that isn't the case.

So you're discounting the possibility that people will buy a system with a game they want on the horizon? It is entirely in the realm of possibility that people really want ToV (and even IU) and are buying 360's now to play something like LO or BD first.

Example. I had a friend who wanted GTAIV and was going to buy a PS3 for it. However, he really wanted to play Uncharted, Heavenly Sword and R&C as well. So he bought a PS3 in Mid - March to play those other games before GTAIV came out. Yes he is only one person, but I'm sure there are quite a few of those type of thinkers out there.

Sure that may account for the sales being up for for the past week maybe two, but it has been two months of increasing 360 sales. That is setting aside the fact that you are shifting your argument. You said "because the game releases next week", my remarks were that sales have been up for a while and Kowenicki actually looked into in detail and saw that it had been for two months.

I hope Xbox 360 will get within striking distance of PS3 in Japan. That may be the one thing that convinces Sony to get some more of their first party jRPGs out.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
