Actually, most developers would be smart to start on the PC version and port to console.
Capcom and Square Enix have already started doing it, and I bet other companies are doing it, too.

Infact - who wants to throw their hands in at saying the 360 version would even be technically superior when it lands. Right now the opposite seems to be true - that PS3 games would benefit from the 360.

not a chance in hell. or do you not remember GRAW2, Madden 08, and *shudder* The Orange Box?
IMO, it's doubtable that the 360 would benefit from the PS3 being the lead platform. (a remote possiblity is that the experience with multi-core processing while making the game for PS3 would let them utilize the 360's weaker CPU better, but that's highly unlikely.) However, the PS3 sure as heck DOES benefit from being the lead platform and the overall quality of the game across both consoles will be higher because it is far easier to port from PS3 to 360 than vis-versa.
Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

This is a good statment also. I've just read from tech articles and such that developing for the PS3 is going to be similar to developing for future processors, the whole mutli-thread parallels and all that other tech mumbo-jumbo that I don't quite grasp.

PS3 = Needs "organized" code to run properly
360 = Reads "unorganized code" just fine.
Making on PS3 first = Both Consoles get "organized" code.
Any Better?

| ChronotriggerJM said: The statement absolutely makes sense :P I think it'll cost a little bit more, but it will definitely make the better game. The PS3 isn't a great console to move sloppy code to. If you take the time to write nice code, you'll see performance in spades. The 360's alot easier to just move stuff over to, and as a result, you see worse looking PS3 ports. But the 360's setup will still read the clean code and process it more efficiently than just throwing it together. I believe that's what the Burnout Team was saying. Because it HAS TO BE neat on the PS3, the 360 benefits. |
I would like to thank you for brutally murdering those poor, unsuspecting brain cells of mine that processed this post of yours :(
I don't pretend to understand the intricacies of programming multiple SPU's to handle tasks as varied as AI, physics, and pre processing of triangles/polygons before they even hit the RSX, but one thing I do know is that the methods and techniques involved in using the ps3's SPE's (which contain the SPUs) do nothing to make development better on the xbox 360.

As long as there is no game on the PS3 showing a great graphik, that would just not be possible on the Xbox360, this is just PR-Spin. I think Valve avoids the PS3 for a reason.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Valve doesn't avoid the PS3 for any reason remotely near that. They just don't like putting extra effort into something they don't see benefitting them. From what I've read however, they're going to have to change the way they develop anyway seeing as how future hardware isn't anything like what they're used to >_>

this is just sony pr, acting like a a pure a$$hole he is. xb 360 will gain nothing from being ported too from the ps3 if it is the lead platform. and also ff13 on the xb 360 will look the same as the ps3 version, why simple because both consoles are virtually identical in power.
