if you like nintendo games get a ds, if you don't like them then you are probably better with a psp

Yeah because the only good games on the ds are nintendo games.

if you look at what sells good on ds then thats dominated heavy by nintendo,  if this page is right then the top ten sellers and 18 out of the top 20 sellers on ds are from nintendo. even whole top 50 is dominated very heavy by nintendo.

not saying that there are no other good titles, but for most other games you can either get a psp version or something compareable on psp too.

yeah, how dare them make good games that sell well!

i have not said that these games are bad, but not everybody likes them (i personally don't like most of the typcal nintendo franchises).

thats just why i said that you will be happy with ds if you like nintendo games, if you don't like them you will most likely be more happy with the psp.

Good games are good, regardless of who made them.

I wish I knew loads of good reasons to buy a PSP, but I can only think of two, Locoroco and Patapon.

You would choose a PSP if you havve a PS3. Otherwise DS.

Let me try telling you why not get a PSP:
1) The worst battery life in the history of portable gaming. Really, expect it to last 3-4 hours average (2 and half online)
2) Ports of lame PS2 games. There are way too many lousy ports. The PSP is so powerful that it is easy to grab a shitty PS2 game port it and call it a day.
3) Not enough original games. Even the exclusives play like dumbed down PS2 games. If you did not enjoy Silent Hill, Metal Gear, God of War or GTA in the PS2 you won`t enjoy them on the PSP.
4) The analog stick is shit. The lack of a second analog hurt the gameplay on some 3D games and direct PS2 ports.
5) The thing can`t keep itself clean even if your life depended on it. If you don`t play it using gloves, you will leave fingermarks all over the place (washing your hands is not enough)
6) Frail. Not really a problem if you are the only one using it. Just don`t drop it or let kids near it.

1. Worst battery life in the history of portable gaming? Clearly you haven't experienced the inconvinience of having to buy batteries for the Sega Nomad, Game Gear or the original Gameboy Advance.

2. The great thing about lousy PS2 > PSP ports is that you don't have to buy them.

3. How about Patapon, Loco Roco, Dead Head Fred, Jeanne d'Arc and Crush (my all time favorite handheld game)

4. The analog nub is pretty lousy, but a second one would have discouraged original game development and ensured the PSPs status as a dumping ground for PS2 games.

5. Who cares about the cleanliness of the PSP? Just don't touch the screen.

6. I dropped mine a bunch of times and it still works fine.

PS. For the love of god check out Crush, the best handheld game I've ever had the joy of playing and NOBODY gives it any credit.

Sony's first party PSP offerings are better than Nintendo's first party DS offering (my opinion of course, but I'd rather not play Pokemon or ports of N64 games).

The only ports of N64 games are Super Mario 64 DS and Ridge Racer DS. After the exclusion of the Pokemon games that still leaves more than 20 first party titles (excluding all the Training games as well).

Diddy Kong Racing or Mario Kart much?

Don't get me wrong, there are some good ones out there like the New Super Mario Brothers, Nintendogs (they are good games, but not for most people on this site), Advance Wars, or Elite Beat Agents, but I still find Sony's first party stuff to be better.

I forgot about Diddy Kong Racing, but Mario Kart DS is a new game.

Anyway, I was just correcting you since you made it sound like the majority of DS first party games were Pokemon titles or ports of N64 games which isn't even remotely true.

No its not ... just because they add a couple of remade tracks or port a couple of GC tracks its not a new game . I unfortunatly had the game , I bought the hype , just to play instead trough NSMB for the 3rd time ...

Why is the PSP better than the DS you ask ? Well first of all it has a different library IMO . It has much more M rated games and most of its games are full 3D , often some games ( like Syphon Filter ) even beating their PS2 versions in the graphics department . Also , if you are looking for epic , cinematic experience on the go the PSP is really the only way to go . Games like God of War or Crisis Core will blow away every single idea you had about handheld games something the DS wont do .

Thye PSP is also pretty cheap at this poin , and for the 170$ your paying for it you will also get a machine that can store photos , music , videos , game demos , navogate the internet , usijg skype etc. For the low price it has and the boom it bundles , you just cant go wrong with it ;)

trust me, you will get bored of your psp like i did.
all i do is listen to music.

id get a DS

As usual, Sony is hoping to catch you with non-gaming stuff (mp3, bluray...).

Nintendo is a gaming company if that helps you to decide what you want.

Sorry, but did you forget to mention Online and Wireless Lan, which are the best things about MKDS? It is definately far from a port.

Well it has no voip so online falls flat IMO ... if I play with my friends online I DO WANT TO TALK TO THEM ...lets just say its an updated port , similar to Medieval Ressurection then ... OK ? ;)

Why you should buy a PSP:

Because PSP fans don't go in and crap all over the why you should buy a DS thread.

The battery life problems are exaggerated, and there are a lot of ways to save on battery. You can adjust the brightness of the screen (3 settings, very easy to change), you can turn the sound off, or you can turn the screen off completely if you are using it for music (very easy to do as well, just hold the brightness button down).

I always get at least 6 hours off the battery. I have a slim.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Frankly the DS is just better in everyway but graphics. The PSP has some good games but the DS just crushes in terms of variety and quality and quantity. I really can't recommend a PsP over a DS.
