All sales figures are estimates.  No tracking agency in the world accounts for every purchase.  The best most can get is just above tracking 1/2 of all purchases.

However, NPD does track 60%+ of USA data (which is more than ioi tracks), so the fact that the numbers last month were over 40% too high meant they had to be lowered.  Adding in the extra week (June 17) takes the numbers just about back to where they were, since the data was less than 100k too high, and 360 sold 70k+ last week.

 All sales number are estimates. The only hard sales numbers are given to each companies shareholders in their quarterly reports. Whether it be NPD, Media Crate, VG Chartz etc., they are just guides to go by until we get hard numbers from the quarterly reports. I would have a problem with Ioi's number if he didn't adjust them in if they were off.

Quite right you are. It still has to be noted that the 360 is well into it's 1 yr & 7mth time line and still hasn't had a 10mill unit sell through yet... according to VGC ofcourse.

And seriously people...it's not that big of a deal.  It only seems like a big deal to some of you because 10.00 million was such a nice number.  9.99 million is not far off, so get over it.

I can't be the only guy that still sees the big "beta" sign at the top of the site can I?. VG is still a work in progress. It'll take time to nail down numbers to the degree of accuracy where no adjustments are made. But I'm still quite happy with what we're getting.

Yeah I know not a big deal.. however should Sony figures go through something like this at the 10 mill mark this site would be fillled to the brim with "lol, Sony is teh bankrupt an iz going down haaahaha, teh nobz!00!1110!!" threads 

I predicted in the 10 mil thread that the numbers might have to be adjusted down... I was a little concerned about there not being any slack on that 10mil estimate...

Numbers are rechecked with monthly and I assume yearly data which is more accurate. They are great for trends, but the last few weeks might not be perfect. I trust these numbers better than http://www.nexgenwars.com/ which appear to have their estimates readjusted far less often.

The adjustment may be 40% for a month, but it is only 1% given the base. I think the wii numbers are seriously low for the last week, but I know they will get updated up in about 6 weeks if I am correct...
