I am rather surprise at Ninja Gaiden 2 numbers. I was thinking may be 250k top consider all the so-so review it got.

 yeah NG2 did very good

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

Awesome Nintendo Wii/DS and PS3 sales. XBox360 had a bad month, but it'll bounce back.

The YTD NPD figures for the ps3 and 360 are:

PS3 - 1,608,000
360 - 1,354,000

What are VGChartz's YTD figures for the US?

Here VGC data for America's for the same period.

Console PS3
America
1,788,359
Console X360
America
1,753,558

PS3 was a BEAST this month! Impressive!

MGS4 doing superb, like it should. In combination with the 80gb, it dwarfed the 360. Message to Sony: THE PUBLIC LIKES EXCLUSIVES AND B/C! (duh).

Wii = Mark of the beast ... much lower than I expected. I thought, at least, another 700k month. Still ridiculous for summer months though.

360 hardware struggling. Much needed "clearance" sale. August can't come soon enough for Microsoft. Ninja Gaiden did better than expected, though. Def a surprise.

Epic Month for Sony!

I think it was MGS4 + $100 gift card at Walmart that did it! - Remember Vgchartz doesn't track walmart.

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/wal-mart-corporate-confirms-100-ps3-gift-card-yes-even-mgs/

Theres the scoop. So I think that explains both the discrepency and the huge sales the PS3 got.

$499 80GB PS3 with $60 MGS4 and $100 Gift card = $160 discount for some people. Or they could have gotten a 40gb PS3 no MGS4 for $399 with said $100 gift card and bought a PS3 for less than a Pro Xbox360 if you add it all up. *Xtra controllers/games etc*

So based on that I would predict that theres not yet any indication of a trend for a huge increase in PS3 sales rates.

I am pretty sure NPD does not track Walmart either.

Edit - NVM, I just read that supposedly they started sometime in the middle of last year.

Even so, 1 week is responsible for equating to double sales?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

how come the 360 numbers are so high on vgchartz? shouldnt they adjust their numbers to npd as npd is the most accurate! 360 is way overtracked on vgchartz.

The biggest news here is that the PS3 got the biggest third-party exclusive it will ever receive and STILL fell far short of Wii's total.. and it couldn't come at a worse time for Sony.

Wow.  Serious spin there...

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
