It's clear that exclusivities nowaday has moved from away from "fanbase royality" to "whoever issues the biggest check". No doubt there will be few and few third party exclusive titles.

 

What's Sony's way of facing this? Being the company that doesn't have money to burn, It's clear from E3 that Sony is focusing more and more in internal development.


Agree with it or not, I like the plan, rather than spending millions on other people's game that doesn't guarantee quality (Haze anyone?) Sony will do it within.

They have been doing it for some times now, It's just that it's now more evident than ever after this E3.

The market itself is changing, I'm at least glad Sony has some capable Dev teams.

Well considering that Nintendo lost out to Sony for the same reason (focusing more on first party) .... I would think that they would be smarter.

Nintendo lost out completely, (losing FF franchise), while Sony only lost its exclusivity.


Slightly different, but enough for Sony to reconsider its position.

Yeah I kinda agree. Sony has spent a lot of time and money during the years with their relationship with SE. They even saved them during the worst moments (Final Fantasy the movie) and that's how they repay them. It's pretty much why Nintendo had focused on internal development in the first place and now Sony has no choice but to do the same.



How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Sony's internal development teams are quite good... I say that Sony needs itself an RPG team - found one or buy one. I'd say Square Enix if they weren't so big and expensive, I'd go for my 2nd favorite RPG dev - Level 5. If you want your console to have true exclusives - make them yourself. Hope Sony expands on that.

Well if Sony only focuses on internel development as they say they are and Microsoft buys out all third parties, then soon enough all third party franchises will be Xbox360 exclusive. Obvious here.

I think Sony should start shelling out some money.
