I actually own just about every Wii hit.  Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Wario Ware, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Wii fit, ect.  I mean the games are OK, they just aren't as fun as I remember them being.  When I got Mario 64 (when I was 11 or so) I couldn't stop playing it for over a week till I got all 121 stars.  Now I find myself bored out of my mind by the 5th level of galaxy (and SO annoyed by friggin text in 2007 games, wtf is that?  Voice dialogue was put into PS1 games regularly!  Come on Nintendo!).  Except for Wii Sports and Wii Fit I really miss what the "revolution" is in the other games, they seem a lot like the games I was playing over a decade ago on the N64 and/or SNES.

Hmm....you make a long post that looks like it would back up your case with so many details. However, it screams "bias!". Not many people get $5 for lifetime internet. Although it only has Adobe Flash 7, I've been able to do research for many homework projects, and didn't have to pay for internet every month. My friend who is a PS3 owner has told me that his PS3 internet has been lacking as of late. Whether it's his connection or not (I doubt it is), he has some dissatisfaction with it.

You, Impulsivity have done this before. I don't remember the topic but it was long winded, and didn't really show both sides of the spectrum, just the dark side, where the Wii was chillin at. People value things differently. Just because the IPhone has 100 features doesn't mean I want to buy it. That's the thing that actually discourages me from buying it (besides it being expensive to own). It has the value, but you must keep paying for it. The Camar(y?) may be better value, but what about its upkeep and MPG. In the long run, I bet the Yaris would be of more value.

The Wii doesn't even need DVD. Standalone DVD players are cheap nowadays. No one really knows how much Nintendo makes off a single Wii unit in profit (it is assumed as $50-$75), so you saying the Wii is only really worth $150 has no evidence of proof. At $250, adding a DVD player to the Wii would've probably raised the price of it to $300, the price of the PS2 at launch. Only a minority of people actually download movie trailers and such from their HD consoles and watch Project Runway on them.

As for the Wii's strength, we all know it is 2x as strong as the GameCube, which was 1.25x stronger than the PS2, making the Wii 225% stronger than the PS2, two of them and a disc tray taped together. As for the Wiimote, its more intuitive than an analog controller and has shown to be more than capable of producing things considered impressive today. There are games that are of poor quality (3rd parties) but as I recall, not every PS2 was a visual masterpiece either. Some reeked of some Sega Saturn Wack Juice on the graphics side. The Wii is a toy no doubt, but the way you worded it by saying the PS3 was an important computer for the important living room while the Wii is just a simple toy is a low blow.

480 display being available for 10 years obviously doesn't bother that many as much as you think it does. There are about 25 million+ people who could care less, an the number grows every week rapidly. The 480 resolution was high enough for them to play videogames, not to run Linux. Nintendo has been making profit since 1981. Unfortunately, PS3 development set back the Sony gaming division back a few billion dollars. So you could say they are similar, but not the same at all.

There were 120 stars in Super Mario 64 I think. He might be right though. He does know everything.

The front page of this web site is incontrovertable proof that the Wii is considered to be better value per dollar than the PS3. I know, you're shocked and alarmed that not everybody shares your values. It's clearly proof that the world is filled with inferior sheep. If only you could bring true understanding to them. But, alas, they are lost to Mario Kart, and deaf to your wisdom. Woe be unto the foolish flock.

Why do people always use sales as if it justifies any point? If you combine NSync, the Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, Brittany Spears and Madonna you start closing in on a billion albums sold, but does that make those albums anywhere near the best music has to offer? Yes 25 million bought the Wii, helped no doubt by the fact it costs less because of its use of old hardware (though still costs a lot more then its worth) but that doesn't make it superior in performance, feature set, games, or anything else.

Also that they make a bunch of money on every Wii sold SHOWS that its not a great value though several have used that as evidence that it is somehow a good value. If a system makes money from the start it's because it is using outdated hardware. The PS3 is a great value for gamers (even if a bad one for Sony) which is why it loses money initially just as the PS2 did.

As to other points Saviorx I have no idea what you're getting at. To say 480p is plenty just exposes that you are either A) really young and have no say in purchasing decisions B) not at all a videophile and don't care how a game looks/sounds or c)Not of means so you can't purchase a decent system even if you want one so try to make it sound like not purchasing an HDTV is the best choice. Regardless of which it is I can assure you, a large TV with high resolution makes the Wii look very poor especially compared with PS3 or even 360 games. The PS2 was blessed with slow adoption of HDTVs during its heyday, a 480p console on a modern large TV is an ugly ugly sight.

So, in bizarro world, the PS3 is mainstream and cheap, while the Wii is expensive and niche.
