Forums - Gaming Discussion - Manhunt 2 gets kiss of death, ESRB rates it AO

AO is pretty extreme. Man I hope it gets dropped back to Mature.

I agree, now this is a real kiddie game. All the boys will want to play this for sure. I guess people were right to call the Wii a kiddie machine.

I think they will tone it down to get a mature rating. It's going to be hard since the ESRB probably already have it their heads that you mimick a killer's actions in the game instead of merely pressing buttons.

Wow... I don't even own an AO-rated game. I'm not sure I've ever seen one.

I wonder if it's possible that the attention brought on by this, even if the rating sticks, will in fact boost sales. People just might go out of their way to find the places carrying the game if they hear how "bad" it is.

"Hey Johnny, Dave, look what I got!" *Unsheathes copy of Manhunt 2 in porno-mag fashion.* "Whoaaa! Let's go play it!"

Prediction: Wii passes 360 in US between July - September 2008. (Wii supply will be the issue to watch, and barring any freak incidents between now and then as well.) - 6/5/08; Wow, came true even earlier. Wii is a monster.

i was pissed off when i heard it was banned Here. I was looking forward to it as well :*(

Well if that was true why didnt they just ban the Wii version and make it AO?

Ladies & Gents, we have the new "Clockwork Orange" of the modern era for videogames...

I'm hoping we see a release for the game in Australia sometime in the next 50 yerars ;)

I'm not sure I understand the question. They can't ban it in the US, that against First Amendment rights.

Ban the Wii version and make it AO? Please elaborate. BTW, I was being sarcastic about eh AO rating, but I want to answer your question anyway. I am sure Take Two does not want their game to carry an AO rating.

this is making headlines... i use google to get my news and there is a link to an MTV article about Manhunt 2. Free press...

I doubt the AO rating is going to stick.

They must be happy that Jack Thompson can't say anything about the game.

Which mag was that?

It's now been banned in the UK, wasn't thinking of getting this one though, it's a bit too ruthless for my tastes.
