... AO means it won't be sold by retailers.  Even if it was, Manhunt 2 is niche of niche.  It's for torture porn and graphic horror movie fanatics.  It was never going to have the mass market appeal of GTA.

I thought I must be confusing it with another game and it turns out I was. 

In the game I was thinking of on the DC you went about on a motorbike to various locations before getting involved in shoot outs with criminals. You where a Cop type character as I remember - must've had a similar name?

Porn? Have you ever played a Manhunt? Do you know any info on the upcoming game? There is no torture in this game at all. There is just killing. Its not like the game is just going around killing people for no reason. The first one had a reason. Not a good one. From the looks of this game there is actually a really good story going on. If this game was a niche it would have gotten a 92/100. I dont know what the other versions got but the Wii version got a 92/100 so this game aint not niche. 

Torture Porn is the term used to refer to movies like Hostel which aren't so much horror as they are over-the-top gore.  This is almost exactly what Manhunt and Manhunt 2 are (and yes I played Manhunt).  Game score doesn't mean it isn't niche.  Katamari got great scores but it's niche.  There are many niches in gaming, and Manhunt 2 falls very nicely into the gorey horror one.  Don't expect it to ever break any sales records because torture porn doesn't appeal to mainstream.

So many people that are prepared to state their opinon as fact on a game they haven't even played yet...

On a side note, I'm sure it was a poster on here who questioned whether the gesture controls that he had seen on Godfather would be viewed as 'inappropriate' by Big Brother, looks like he might have been right.

I'm assuming you mean the saw movies, and yes, they fall in the category.  You can't say that just because a movie sells well a game will do the same.  Manhunt 1 didn't even break 1 million in sales without an AO rating limiting it.  The games are niche, GTA is as mainstream as mainstream gets.  I am in no way saying it is a bad game.  I enjoyed the first one and intend to buy this one for the Wii as well, but be realistic: this is not the Wii's GTA.  This game will not ever hit 500K in sales because it's niche and has an AO rating.

I'll agree that this game wont break the 500k with the AO rating but if that is dropped to an M im pretty sure it will sell more then the origanal. Yet even if it stays AO it could still sell over the million mark. You never know, no game has ever been released with an AO rating. People might just make an extra trip to EB or gamestop to get it.
