I walked into a bestbuy the other day and they were building a shark out of unsold consoles half its body was made of PS3 the other half with Xbox360 and its eyes and teeth were made out of Wii I asked them about it and they told me all the NPD and VGchartz numbers were wrong and that there was a huge conspiracy against PC the true dominant gaming platform. lol Give me a break I also have another one for you about how dinosaurs aren't dead they just moved underground with the mole people and their totally planning an attack in 2020.

The NPD X360 numbers are surprisingly low, and I personally don't believe they are correct. But I agree with Sharky that the X360 is in a good shape.

You see, the best is yet to come. If you stop for a sec, there's been a huge game drought not only for PS3, but for the X360 too. Name me the last million-seller (in the US)? Of course, that is if you agree, that will be reflected in the console sales. But the X360 will take on pretty soon.

When VGChartz and NPD differ by over 40%, the real number is going to be a lot closer to the NPD value. ;>

If NPD were really fudging their numbers by as much as you claim, Microsoft themselves would make a statement refuting it, but they're the ones who released the information themselves.

I don't think NPD would be that far off the mark. I'd say sales NA would probably be close to 180k so adding Canada and they aren't that far off. They are going to be quite close and we all know this. ioi understands this as well and he always updates this accordingly.

But it's against the law to withhold information or make inferences for bias reasons. So I doubt they'd do that unless they wanted to face charges that would instantly be brought by MS.

But what I'm hoping is this light of ioi letting out some of the emails of unprofessionalism goes out and puts NPD in some bad light. Haha get this dude a good talking and ioi some very well needed apologies. Haha ioi you should send this to a major gaming site and make this huge.

Nope, only 167k for 360 by NPD even with Canada. 

360 hardware seems determined to have big spikes in one of three scenarios:

1) Hyped new IP that appeals to the audience

2) X-mas/price drop

3) Sequel/Spinoff to a million seller from Xbox

Wii is much more dependent on shipments, while PS3 seems severely restricted by game drought and price.  Things would be alot clearer if all three consoles launched worldwide at the same time for reasonable prices ($200 for Wii and $300 for 360/PS3)

I have no idea what ioi's sources are and he wont tell us. But my best guess he either is or has access to an employee, of a large national chain that does a significant percent of the USA market vidgame sales. Most likely, the chain in question is either Best Buy, or Gamestop.  That employee then has authority to look up national sales figures for the chain on their computer system, and he secretly relays them to ioi.  My brother used to work inventory at Best Buy, and even as a fairly low level employee at one store I believe he had access to that type of info.

And yeah, I dont doubt for a second that ioi's source is showing much greater relative 360 sales to NPD. I've always known that.

Also as far as MS disputing NPD's numbers, it's not nearly that cut and dried. They may be scratching their heads at NPD numbers right now. But jumping to disputing them in the media is a whole nother story. They would catch a lot of bad press for that, many people would laugh at them and claim they are making excuses. So it's not so cut and dried that MS would automatically dispute these figures, they may take months to make that decision.

I think it bears watching MS ship numbers to North America the next few Q's versus NPD sales. We know those ship numbers are accurate. 

 if you decide to turn your brain off and just following what random people say, then that makes sense.

otherwise, stop whining and take it like a man.  you know full well which number you believe is closer to the reality, so stop lying to yourself.
