So it's at 28 million right now. 12 million left to go with 6 months left to go.

It sold 9 million in the first 6 months (a little under but we still got a week left so it should go over 9 million) and that was before supply increase. That didn't include holiday rushes either.

Even if people predict that it'll stop selling out it's ludicrous to predict that it'll fall in sales.

Clearly Others and Japan aren't supply constrained since they are more stable but as you can see over the last year there is still a noticeable increase in Others compared to launch year. In Japan it hasn't increased in weekly averages since launch year but it's at least rebounded after that lull before holidays '07.

The way I see it even if supply catches up with demand in NA it'll continue to outsell the PS3 + 360 in NA for at least the rest of this year and depending on software lineups maybe much further. With that said 12 million in the next 6 months is all but guaranteed. It would require a massive Nintendo defect/recall scandal to kill sales enough to stop it from hitting 40 million this year.

I bet ps3 sells 14 million by the end of the year.

It should hit somewhere in the 40's range by the time the year ends....

With MS and Sony probably bringing Wii-mote knock off's to the market soon, I very much doubt Nintendo will leave themselves in a situation of understocked shelves this autumn/Christmas.

They could get away with it when there was no equivalent products available, but would lose more than just a Wii sale when someone leaves with a 360/PS3 (they lose eventual software sales...)

Having said that, there should be far more than enough stock available to reach 40+ million by Dec 31.

It's pretty much certain it will pass 40 mil. (unless Nintendo kills the Wii this year, which Leo-j wants in the 1st place. Stupid ASSumptions.)


Nintendo will ultimately hit the 41-44 mil mark by the end of 08. (assuming they want to ship 49.2 mil by March 09. 3-6 mil in 3 months is possible.)
