So it's at 28 million right now. 12 million left to go with 6 months left to go.

It sold 9 million in the first 6 months (a little under but we still got a week left so it should go over 9 million) and that was before supply increase. That didn't include holiday rushes either.

Even if people predict that it'll stop selling out it's ludicrous to predict that it'll fall in sales.

Clearly Others and Japan aren't supply constrained since they are more stable but as you can see over the last year there is still a noticeable increase in Others compared to launch year. In Japan it hasn't increased in weekly averages since launch year but it's at least rebounded after that lull before holidays '07.

The way I see it even if supply catches up with demand in NA it'll continue to outsell the PS3 + 360 in NA for at least the rest of this year and depending on software lineups maybe much further. With that said 12 million in the next 6 months is all but guaranteed. It would require a massive Nintendo defect/recall scandal to kill sales enough to stop it from hitting 40 million this year.
