^Actually I am pretty sure they own the rights to publish the first 2 games, which would be Gears 1 and Gears 2. They do not in any way own the right to the franchise, the IP is owned by Epic.

Epic can put Gears 3 anywhere they want. MS can't do anything about it either unless they pony up some more dough.

Well if it were to happen, PS3 fanboys would suddenly be willing to give Gears of War its due.

Well Gears of War 3 will be released in late 2010, if it takes the same time as it did with GoW2. So the new Xbox should be on his way at this point :D

The word is this, Epic owns the right to the franchise. 1 and 2 are exclusive and 3 is open to what Epic wants to do. I have also heard they could potentially put 1 and 2 on a disc for 3 if it ever came to the PS3. This info comes from someone that is friend's with another at Epic.

However, knowing Microsoft's and Epic's relationship with this franchise I highly, highly doubt it. From OXM a month of two ago the mole stated that Microsoft is willing to pay up what it takes to keep the franchise, including #3 on the 360 alone save a PC version.

In the end, highly doubtful.
