Brave Fencer Musashi was a pretty good game.  The sequel was ok as well.  We need more 2.5d games!

I still have BFM, actually. I even wrote a guide for it. Though the minigames irritated me to no end, the gameplay outside of them was quite fun.

I loved this game, back in 1998! In fact, I still have it! There's a part near the end when a supporting character gets stepped on by a giant creature. The character's best friend yells "NOOOOOOOO!". I think it's supposed to be sad, but I laughed for about 30 minutes, after seeing that! Just thinking about it now is making me crack up. Well worth the price of admission.

 I dont know wtf sony is doing they should be releasing more ps1 games, all I see are 1 st party exclusives, no 3 rd party other than castlevania.

One of the best games. Ever. I mastered it beyond masterage because I played it so much.
It's games like Brave Fencer Musashi that define the greatness of SquareSOFT.
And it's crappy games like the spin-off sequel Samurai Legand Musashi that define the shittiness of SquareENIX.

Plus, Topo's Groove thingy taught me how to DDR. Oh yes. And I actually have BFM music on my iPod, and they're songs that I listen to VERY frequently. I.E "Vambee Church Bell" & "Tower of Death".

One of my all-time favorites. It didn't get nearly the credit it deserved, and it still doesn't. Of course the characters and voice acting are pretty obnoxious, but the gameplay is unmatched. People usually compare it to Zelda, which I don't think is really right. Musashi put a much bigger emphasis on combat and skill development than on exploring and puzzle solving, and those things that it focused on it did far better than any Zelda game. It sounds strange, but if you wanted to compare it to something, I'd pick God of War. The combat system is very similar.

And yeah, the soundtrack is also one of the best ever. Unfortunately the composer, Tsuyoshi Sekito, pretty much dropped off the face of the earth after it was released (he's now one of the guitarists in the Black Mages). But the good news is, he's finally making his return as the composer for The Last Remnant! I'll probably buy that game for that alone.

I've played parts of it, but I played Musashi: Samurai Legend on the PlayStation 2 even more (it looks and plays nothing like it's predecessor though).

One thing I didn't especially like was the village/castle part at the beginning... Too much "messing around" for nothing. The missions after were pretty cool though, and that's where the game shines the most! =P

it was a good game, but after i played it i completely forgot about it. because it didnt do anything i thought was very good enough for me to play again, also it didnt do anything at all that would compare it to zelda and zelda is the best action/rpg series in that genre , period. the only game i would ever consider to be even close to the zelda series is called " alundra" now that game was truly great and it still is the closest game that ppl who only own a playstation system will ever get to a zelda game. if you never have played this game "alundra" please give it a try, you will agree that it is closest game to the zelda franchise.
