I don't know why, but this put a smile on my face.

(Welcome to VGChartz, and by the looks of things, I'm sure you'll make a lot of new friends here...)

Good one.  ;)

The PS3 will outsell the PS2, i am saying this based off a number of facts and personal opinions.

- Blu Ray
- 10 Year Life Cycle
- Best Libary of Games
- Ever improving Online

For me, they havnt lost anything. They have introduced the new standard of the next media format (Blu Ray), improved their online from PS2, fixed many of their reliablity issues which they had with the PS2 and built a quality games and media console. Their sales have also been very good considering it is still at a very high price and has only released 1 of it's big games.

Until its the wii's price, and has that library of games it has no chance. It doesnt appeal to casuals as much as the wii, or to the core as much as the 360.

If BD is the new standard in movie format, and if the PS3 is the reason for it, Sony will profit more from this generation of gaming consoles then MS and Nintendo combined.

Wow way to optimistic, if blu-ray doesnt replace DVD it could actually mean that sony can lose money on the format, like they did with UMD.

If HD does take over, and blu-ray's market share takes at least 25% of all DVD sales, I can see sony gaining PS3 sales, and making tons of money. Though until then its not going to happen. Sony GAMING DIVISION doesnt profit from blu-ray, they profit off software sales, and hardware sales, the PS3 is still costing them lots, if software sales dont increase significantly and if we dont see the PSP sales double(same with ps2) its not even going to make as much as microsoft profit wise.

You do realise that "core gamers" and "Blu ray users" are a group that overlaps pretty well. The people who love to play games - males, 16-30 coincides quite well with the people that apreciate Blu ray.

I remember seeing a lot on these forums and others "I'll pick up a PS3 because it has Blu ray - and plays games" - thats the value angle, which would be irrelevant if this group didn't apreciate Blu ray. For this group, the Wii is overpriced comparitively because it DOESNT play blu ray.

Hey I always mention blu ray in the Elite as one of the key factors for accelerating Xbox360 takeup for this reason. I may as well be honest and admit it here.

Tease.

Yea, we knew that a year ago. But the PS3 did so horribly last year, that making a recovery this gen is more of the new mesure of success. We can't just ignore any accomplishment the PS3 has made and say, "It was in first last gen, nothing else matters."

+1.  This thread is rationalization at it's best.  Halo was not the final nail in the coffin for the PS3 and MGS4 launched much better than expected.

I could find reasons the other consoles failed -

Microsoft - Going to most likely end up 3rd this gen instead of 2nd.  They still are not getting the attention of Japan and Mainland Europe very well.

Nintendo - While having much better success than the PS2 did at this point in hardware sales, third parties still aren't giving the same attention as they did to the PS2, as evidenced by all the "Boycott Ubisoft" sigs in Wii Fanboys' sigs.

But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Well it is at 10% since the introduction of HD formats...

Umm...  yeah.  I actually own a console from every company.  I had a Wii and I disliked it from my experiences with it.  I like the DS and every Nintendo console before the Wii, save the VB.  Is it so wrong to prefer experiences like MGS4 or Lost Odyssey?
