This thread is hilaroius. I never tire of reading what sony fanatics have to say. All the random non-relevant stats...the staunch "predictions" etc, etc. Why do people assume sony always knows what they're doing or whats good for the customer. This is the same company that put rootkits into their music CD's secretively because they figured their customers wouldn't know or care. not to mention the many arrogant pompous statements from sony execs that probably will end up hurting them. Nintendo, as a company has been pretty clean and they make statements with actions, not words, and I applaud them not only for the innovatoin they have brought to the table, but the way in which they handle their business conduct.
First of all that was sony BMG not SoW or SCEA or SCEJ.... well you get the point. Sony is a huge company with many different divisions. Ans some sister companies don't even like each other and is willing to sue each other.
This is the thing........ if you've been around long enough you would notice something. Sony has always talked big. Its called hyperbole. No matter what they have said the PS1 and PS2 still turned out to be some of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. Do I care about what they say now? Absolutley not. It "wont" hurt anyone in the long run. The only people seriously listening to sony execs are the anti sony people who want to tear them down.
And as far as nintendo goes.... what you are seeing now is nintendo pulling thier own foot out of thier mouths. You see sony talks big and shows a bravado that makes them seem like the hottest things on the market to consumers. Somewhat how a large company normally behaves. But sony turned to developers and gave a broader reach in license's and had less royalties. Nintendo had some pretty underhanded business techniques in the past and was quite mean to developers. Nintendo handed their devs to Sony and Sony kept them.
Whatever makes you feel comfertable about a company that is your thing. But blaming the rootkit on all of sony is like blaming the active x exploits on all of microsoft..... ohh don't buy a 360 you might get spyware or WGA lockdown or a blue screen of death. The companies bravado rarely make a system.... it is all a show. The games are the deciding factor and that is what you should be looking at.
What appeals to "you"?
EDIT: I like sony the most but I love my 360 and I bought "TWO" Wii's. I am more of a fanboy of game libraries and sony is in my good books now.
