a. In this business segment, "Resident Evil 4 Wii edition" and "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles" (for Wii) increased their brand recognition especially in overseas markets. Their shipment surpassed one million units, greatly exceeding our projection.

Wait, this can't be right. Everyone knows you can't sell 3rd party games on the Wii. This report will certainly discourage developers from wanting to develope for the Wii - NOT. And it's not even a kiddy game.

Don't want to get into this argument.

But Resident Evil 4 is an awesome game, and has sold on the GC, the PS2 port, and now the Wii... This does not hurt the TP games don't sell argument it helps it (not that I don't believe that).

Why make a new TP game, when I can re-port an already ported game on last generation consoles, look!  It'll sell a million units.

You should have hoped that RE4 Wii didn't sell...

"Under these circumstances, Capcom Group is preparing to move to a new level of growth. As part of such efforts, we are strengthening our development division that serves as the foundation of our business operations, as well as promoting the "Multi-platform" development method. This method allows us to develop multi-platform products and will help us accommodate diverse customer demands of both domestic and international markets."

Bad news for anyone wanting a console specific game from Capcom. It looks like we'll see a whole lot of ports to every system and that RE5 (port) for the Wii might actually happen.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

BAM! There it is!

They did and it too sold over a million.  RE: UC isn't a port or sequel and it defies the logic you just suggested.

Had RE4 not sold well, or RE: UC for that matter, then the 3rd party don't sell argument would have a layer of cement on it.

RE:UC was new in the sense that it was a new game, but all it did was revisit the old games, just this time on a second-rate On-rails shooter.

But I digress...

I don't want to get into this argument, since I really don't have a stance on it,

Just wanted to point out how RE4 Wii selling well could be interpreted.

Ah, but you're overlooking why that game needed to sell well (apart from being totally freaking awesome). Remember, Resident Evil 4 was "the first test." I believe we're on the fourth or fifth one now. We've all been studying real hard, so hopefully Capcom will let us pass soon...before we all stop giving a s***.

This is impressively tortured logic: basically you're saying that, even though it's a new game, it doesn't count.

This feels a lot like those arguments you see bashing the proliferation of Mario-branded games, even though those games can be radically different from one another. I'm not quite sure how 'revisiting old games' somehow invalidates its performance--in fact, considering that UC is $20 more than RE4 for a 'second-rate' game, I'd say it's even more impressive than it might be at first glance.

As usual, DMeisterJ hating on the Wii, nothing new here folks, move on...

I wish they would be more specific. We know Capcom shipped like 1.1 million of RE4 by the end of 2007. I know that VGC has them a little higher than the shipment numbers.
