Other than Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (or the DX version), you should pick up Super Mario Land.

I'm a little dissappointed since no one mentioned Gargoyle's Quest.
Didn't play many Gameboy games, but Super Mario Land and Gargoyles Quest are definately worth playing.
And you want to buy rechargeable batteries too. Tarjoustalo (propably any Tokmanni group store) sells cheap Enduready batteries and chargers, which are at least decent.

I had good times with Solar Striker. The music in that game was awesome and gets you pumped. Try Bonker's Revenge. I never had that many plain GB games outside of Pokemon, Solar Striker,Bonk (er?) Revenge and 1 day playing The Flinstones. I left my GameBoy out in the rain too many times.......(once)
