This means what exactly? Larger user base not = higher sales.

Only thing I see is Kingdom Hearts large success on the Playstation brand.

Actually yes a larger user base does equate to higher sales.  A larger userbase simply doesn't have a linear correlation with sales.

If thats all you see then perhaps you should open your eyes and stop ignoring what is obvious.  Whether you like it or not SE has a history of moving franchises to other platforms when it makes economic sense and this is certainly one of those times.  As I said before, it may be a multi-plat game but its going to be on the Wii.

I have already stated I have no problem with a multi platform release. I just highly disagree with a Wii only release. So before asking me to open my eyes try reading my posts.

If your logic is right and mine is so flawed then Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, etc... wouldn't be on PS3 now would it? The reason they are still there is due to their success on the Playstation brand.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

The gap would be smaller not bigger especially between the PS3 and the wii.

How do you figure?  The Wii still outsells the PS3 on a weekly basis, therefore mathematically it is getting further away not closer.

That's great.  But things like this shouldn't be argued because of personal prerence.  Things like this should be argued by how you expect things to go.

KH3 will be on PS3.

KH-Spin-off will be on Wii ...

This makes sense as Nomura loves PS3/SONY -- but is prepared to release spin-off games on Nintendo platforms ...

Ohh and this makes the most sense to as Numura will proberly start on KH3 as soon as FF vs. XIII is finished ... why make him learn how to use an entirly new engine and console just after he has mastered PS3 ? Also PS3 will have a reasonable install base in 2 or 3 years when KH3 is due out ...

PS3. Nomura and Co. are working on FF Versus XIII, which, if anything else, is for helping them learn the architecture of the system (since that is their first game).

First, it's appeal. Many, like Soriku, will spout how KH is a "casual game" just because it has Mickey Mouse in it, but fail to realize that CHARACTERS DON'T MAKE A GAME CASUAL, BUT RATHER THE GAMEPLAY DOES!!! If cute characters made a game "casual", then Blinx, the ENTIRE main cast of FFIX, Pocket Fighter, etc. would be considered "casual" but we all know they aren't. The appeal this kind of game has is tons of great action, a deep, plot-driven storyline, and character development that "grows on you", like how in the Gametrailers review of GTA4 said Niko's personality makes you feel like he feels when certain events pop up.....the players become attached to the characters in the game. Do real "casual" games like Carnival Games, Mario Party, or WarioWare: Smooth Moves contain those elements? This kind of appeal goes hand in hand with the normal PS3 gamer, not Wii, as evidenced by how a game like Uncharted sold 1 million for the PS3, but No More Heroes and Zack and Wiki sold mediocre on the Wii (with the highest install base of all current gen consoles, btw)

Second, fanbase. Just like many waited for GTA4 to get a PS3, and how many will wait till MGS4 to get one, this is the kind of game that has a loyal fanbase, who belong in the Sony camp. Look how the main story stays on Sony platforms. 358/2 days is simply a spinoff to show the events that lead up to Organization XIII, yet we all know the majority of their background because of KH2. Then look at Birth by Sleep, which will explain the ORIGINS of the KH story. There's no need to mention KH1 and KH2 as a means of keeping the main story on aSony platform.

Third, gameplay. Many say that the use of the Wiimote would be a fun way to play the game. Let me try and tie that in without another false reason why it some consider it suited for the Wii. The battles in this game are big. REALLY big. Remember the 1000 heartless fight? Or how about the fight with Sephiroth? Do you know how tiring that would be to be swinging your arms about nonstop to make sure you don't die? Now, tie that in with somehow making this game out to appeal to "casuals"....people who don't play games much. When they get home from a long day at work, do you think they want to essentially start exercising vigorously? I doubt that, and that's why I think the classic controller button mapping will do just fine.

Fourth, art design. Sure, KH hasn't been a graphic whore's game, but aesthetically, it's a gorgeous game. Lush colors, beautiful character models, etc. The Wii can pull this kind of thing off, as shown by the Okami port, but try and look a game like Uncharted. It looks "next-gen" yet is the most lush and colorful game out. Now imagine KH's environments, with little attention to extreme detail, but rather making the world around you look gorgeous. Isn't what the PS3 is capable of make it seem more appealing than it does on the Wii now?

Last, production cost. Money is not a problem over at Square Enix. If you really think that, then FFXIII Agito, or w/e the entire universe is called, would be cancelled, right now. If you think that cheap production costs is what's keeping this industry running, then Gears, GTAIV, MGS4, Halo, etc. would not exist. Cheaper costs =/= better games. Not saying that cheap costs = bad games, because games like Brawl and Galaxy are great (even though these are typical Nintendo games whose formula never changes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' I guess), but putting money into a game can only make it better, and plus, by the time this game comes out, the PS3 install may have passed the 360's (which in 360 fanboy's heads, the only number of consoles that can make a game profitable is the 360's numbers, even though Gears sold when the system had a smaller install base than the PS3's current base, yet became profitable). Like I said, money isn't a problem over at SE. It's not like they're Midway or something.

I hope that just about sums it up.

Just about everything you pointed out was either wrong or a complete non-factor.

Its really simple folks, SE wants to make money. They will make the most money by putting the game on the Wii. That doesn't mean it won't be multiplatform and be Wii/PS3 but the game will be on the Wii for the simple reason that there is no valid explaination to stockholders why they didn't.

Wii + Disney = prints $$$, this is not a hard concept.

I would be completely content if it became Wii/PS3. If it was Wii only and used Zelda like gameplay with the wiimote being used for sword swings I could see myself probably never finishing the game, which would be very upsetting for someone like me who has followed the series from the start.

1.Kingdom Hearts isn't exactly what you would call a casual game either and we all know how 3rd party non casual games sell on the Wii.

2.I also feel the PS3 makes sense considering Disney is a supporter of the Blu Ray format.

 1. Seriously, can we get this 'excuse' decapitated now or something? Literally, the only well-done non-casual t-p games on Wii that haven't sold well are No More Heroes (which is its' creator's best-selling game ever, despite the last game appearing on systems with a combined 140million+userbase) and Zack and Wiki, which had no offline adverts and looked like a kids game but was too hard for kids.

2. Disney is also a big supporter of Xbox Live Movie downloads.  Should they toss KH3 up as a downloadable titleon XBL?

Honestly, I reeeeally wonder why people are so against sword-swinging in Wii games.  The Wii-mote was practically built for them, and everyone was chomping at the bit with the possibilities.  Why, now, everyone always shudders at the possibility of well-implemented, more immersive motion controls completely eludes me.

Like I've said before, Square hasn't announced a single new PS3 game since it was revealed that Sony was no longer the market leader, but they've announced several for Wii and DS (and PSP).

That said, I staunchly stand by the belief that they'll see which handheld the series sells better on.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

PS3 only Nintendo fanboys will say wii.

@Kasz216- Out of all of the rpgs on the PS3 how many are well known or even good? stop spining things with illogical data not relevant to the topic.

I have read your posts actually, but if all you see is success on the PS brand then you quite clearly need to open your eyes.  There is a lot more to this than the past, past sales mean precisely jack, this is a new generation and the situation has changed immensely.

You can backpeddle if you like but you made the statement so don't get defensive if I call you on it.

1. That may be true about Z&W and NMH, but what I can recall from 2002, all the marketing for KH was simply the typical commercial showing that it was coming out. I don't remember the details because this was actually a game that was really under the radar for the most part (for me at least) and I only got it because it was my birthday, and I saw it at Best Buy, and wanted to test it out (Good thing I did! Best game ever in my opnion!)

2. The PS3 base isn't a shooter based console (The 360 is :) ). Sure, big shooters have been coming out, but I bet many early adopters were the "I got a PS3 because I know (insert game here) will come out for it" Like MGS4, GTAIV, FFXIII, GT5, and so on. I'm not necessarily saying that action = Sony, because the PS2 had the most diverse library, so saying so would be a fallacy. It's just that with the whole "We are targeting the casual crowd" PR campaign going on with the Wii, it would seem as though action games were more suited towards the HD systems.

3. We agreed

4. When I used this argument, it was only as a support agianst those who say that since the KH isn't a super graphics game, then the Wii is perfect for it. And even still, you can make money on the PS3

5. I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. But the difference: SE are not crap developers, or rather, Tetsuya Nomura isn't a crap developer. The World Ends With You is great, and that's a new IP!
