Heavenly Sword and Lair are both third party 3rd Party... They are being PUBLISHED by SONY, and developed by a 3rd party developer. That boyo, is a 3rd party exclusive

Those are 2nd party games.

Factor 5 has a partnership with Sony, I know that much, so that may make them teeter into the 2nd party. But Ninja Theory isn't, I don't think.

Neither are, they are third party, neither company is owned, by sony, and much like most of last generation, the creators of Lair, Factor 5, are making themselves "exclusive" to PS3.

Lair is no more 2nd party to PS3 than Rogue Squadron was 2nd Party to Gamecube.

So how long will it take for BOTH of these titles to come to the 360?

Unless Sony "own" the IP, no reason why it couldn't happen. At worst a sequel could if the contract excludes this.

microsoft didnt make Gears of War do why doesnt it come to the PlayStation 3. Its published by Microsoft. Same reason why Resistance or Ratchet and Clank wont go to the 360.

All that matters is who publishes the game. If a first party publishes a game, its a first party game. If a third party publishes a game, its third party game. A game developed by a third party, but published by a first party, is the very definition of a "second party" game. First party publishers approach third party developers to make games for them, likely pay for part of the development and marketing, and in turn get exclusive publishing rights to the IP, and likely some artistic oversight, so they can use the game as if it were first party developed. They'll focus on making the game more marketable and positioning its release to maximize console sales, not game sales, etc. Its really not a matter of first party or third party games being more important. It doesn't matter who is making or publishing the games, if they are games with a high appeal. Right now, when Nintendo owns at least half of the 10 biggest franchises in the world (probably 6--Mario, Pokemon, Nintendogs, Brain Training, Animal Crossing and Wii-brand), and Sony and MS each own 1 more franchise in that group (Gran Turismo and Halo, duh), it seems that first party rules. But the PlayStation-era development environment for third parties is still in tact, despite the bulking-up of all three first parties. Some third party franchises will inevitably break through and become huge and defining games of the generation, like GTA, Kingdom Hearts, and even the likes of Need for Speed and Medal of Honor did last gen.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Yeah I completely agree.  The difference though is this gen we don't know where those breakout games will be.  Last gen everyone was pretty sure they were going to be on the PS2 because the PS2 was obviously the strongest system.  It got the AAA first party teams.  This generation though the Wii has started out more than twice as strong as either of it's competitors.  However, before developers knew the Wii would be a success they had already started making PS3 and Xbox 360 games with their best teams.  Most 3rd party developers have expressed interest in changing the focus of their top developers to the Wii, but because many had already started developing games for the other 2 systems who knows what will come out of all this?  Any system could show up with a breakaway 3rd party title that just blows everyone away right now.

i know but we are talking basically the same concept. Resistance or Ratchet could never go to the 360 since they are published by Sony so something like Gears cant go to the PS3 due to being published by Microsoft. It would be weird if we saw Mario on the PS3 and 360 wouldnt it... lol

All these predictions. Does any one ever think about how the economy of certain market impacts the sales? How is Japan doing, EU or USA ?
