2019 was the best to me.

Astral Chain

Dragon Quest XI

Legend of Zelda Links Awaking Remake

Daemon X Machina

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Panzer Dragoon Remake

Collection of Mana

Trials of Mana

Travis Strikes Again

No More Heroes III

Either announced/shown more of and/or released that year. Not just my fave Direct year but my fave Switch year.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

The Mid-Switch Era had the best releases, IMO.  However, I also miss seeing both Reggie and Iwata.

Also, I really miss Nintendo Week with Alison and Gary.  I really wanted NOA to keep this show going, and I'm not sure why they canceled it.

At least koizumi is playing some of the games in the directs now so its a step in the direction that I dearly missed, the goofy directs

Reggie era narrowly wins. So many bangers revealed early on in Switch.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 159 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million, then 161 million)

PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Iwata bringing the news | DIRECTLY | to you, with his characteristic hand gesture.

The early to mid Switch 1 era was the peak, so like 2017-2019.

Although I miss Iwata, it took a while for the early Directs to find their footing and there just wasn't much on the Wii U to showcase.

The Switch 2 era directs so far have been weirdly bad, with poor pacing, too much filler, and a lack of showstoppers. Hopefully they manage to improve going forwards.

Eh. While I’d say the late-Switch 1 Directs are my favorite, early-Switch 2 is a comfortable second for me. Revisiting those early-Switch 1 Directs, they really were a bit iffy. Sure all the third-party showcases and 3DS inclusions were exciting at the time, but definitely would not fly in a modern Direct. The standards just keep going higher.

My only issue with the Switch 2 Directs thus far is that we haven’t gotten an Echoes of Wisdom/Mario Wonder/Tears of the Kingdom-teir reveal. Ocarina and Ravenous could have been that had they, y’know, not been totally spoiled several months in advance lol.

Iwata holding and staring at a banana for pretty much no reason was peak.

I feel like the S2 directs so far just haven't been directed/paced very well, very often during them I'd get bored and be like "come on, enough of this filler, announce something exciting already". The last one for instance, like 80% of it was a nothingburger, even if Metroid/Kirby were cool, like it was 40 minutes long but felt like it could've been cut down to 15 minutes and been better for it.
