Yeah, i didn't specify it because its apparent on the quoted post.

5 week month, but price increase.

You would still be way off if it was a 4 weeks month.

I will explain my intention, it was shocking you to have the highest prediction about ns2, sometimes there is some wishful thinking  clouding our "predictions", i m not innocent in that, i predicted 42k, then lowered it 41k NS for instance, but deep inside i was anticipating 38k and behold eventually somewhat less,i almost got the NS2 though, (mine is the lowest one)

By a hair you would have a fantastic 4 prediction.

I m so curious to see what you will predict for NS2 october.

When I said 5 week month, I meant it for the NS1. That system didn't had price increase in September. NS2 yes, I overestimated it. And of course, I would be way off with a 4 week month, but if it was 4 week month I would said lower number.

My wishful thinking is for all systems to be successful, in order for the whole gaming industry to be successful. And I would want the NS2 to be a little bit higher than what it's actually is. Cuz the hype was so big in the beginning, the first sales were record breaking, and if it remained so, it could've reached new highs after the first and the second year. It still can, but it lost some steam (for record breaking sales), which lower the chances at least for the near future a little bit.

Other than that, my predictions were and are always based on history and trends not bias or wishful thinking. I expected because of the 5 week month, the NS2 to be even with the 4 week one August, exactly because of the price increase. I expected smaller drop, combined with a little boost of going in the latter part of the year. It dropped more however.

For October, weekly sales after the first week of September in US stabilized somewhat, ending the month with weeks of 48k and 47k. I would say 50k weeks for October, therefore something around ~200k, however there should be boost in the last week because of the Zelda bundle, so 250k. (sadly it does not include the game). November should be way higher with the game releasing however.

I would anticipate below 200k (190k), before sephiran made a reference for the upcoming zelda title release, for which I was without a clue.

So, it launches late and there is a bundle.

That makes the prediction challenging.

No doubt, very impressive for PS5 to outsell Switch 2, even with a strong third party and first party lineup during September for PS5.

Curious to see what kind of month on month growth we could see for Switch 2 in October, is 500k+ possible with the Zelda edition and OoT hype?

Sony still got a lot of players stuck on PS4. Millions of them will upgrade to PS5 when sports games, COD, and live service juggernauts drop the PS4, and we're starting to see this.

NBA just skipped PS4 in September. Next month will see COD MW4 skipping it, COD Warzone PS4 support is ending soon, and GTA6 is self explanatory. The end of PS4 should give PS5 a solid boost even this late in the generation, but the absurd prices and looming stock issues will impede the transition.

If something like Wolverine can give PS5 a decent weekly boost, imagine GTA6 post launch. There will be a tug of war going on between high prices and PS5's increased desirability caused by mainstream games finally dropping the PS4.

Great explanation.

Hadn't think of that.

(except I was certain wolverine would have a considerable effect, the first one since 1989, so basically like a complete new (marvel) franchise).

Xbox having its worst September ever really boggles my mind. Im expecting GTA 6 to break the fall next month and November.

For PS5..  so back a few months ago during one of Sonys conference calls, it was stated that They had not seen a sales effect as a result of all the negative social media content.  It should be noted that online is not real life.

"Marvel's Wolverine generated the highest launch month full game dollar sales for a Sony published title since the February 2024,
debut of Helldivers II," -
Piscatella.

Looks like it sold much better than I thought it would.
Helldivers II was a high as I remember, like beating Spiderman 2's launch? I think.
And that was on PC and Consoles, where it actually did really well on pc too, while Wolverine was only on Playstation.

There was also news about it being the 11th best selling game, of the year, with less than 2 weeks of tracking sales.
Some of those titles have been out for awhile and did well, so, yeah Wolverine looks like it wasn't a dud.

I'm curious about how it's legs are.... will it keep selling at high rates? Time will tell.
I know the more intune gamers ect, disliked stuff like the difficulty and fart trails (hahaha).... but maybe that stuff doesn't really matter to casuals that much.

Hardware - PlayStation 5 hardware dollar sales grew 43% in September when compared to a year ago. Spending fell year-on-year for both Xbox Series (-2%) and Nintendo Switch 2 (-12%).

Yeah it is up 43% for PS5  (in terms of dollars earned).

for unit sales this is it:

"....PlayStation 5 unit sales increased by 22% year-on-year, with Switch 2 unit sales falling 14% and Xbox Series dropping 27%."  - Mat Piscatella

From OP:

VGChartz US estimates for September 2025:

  1. NS2 - 277K
  2. PS5 - 190K
  3. XS - 84K

Add in 22%, -14% and -27% you end up at (for sept. 2026 in the US):

  1. NS2 - 238K
  2. PS5 - 232K
  3. XS - 61K

And that should be around the results right?

(edited because I messed up, looking at VGC global numbers instead of US ones, and applied the %'s to that :P first)

Edit nr 2:

from OP:

RESULTS

Units: PS5 > NS2 > XS > NS1
Revenue: PS5 > NS2 > XS > NS1

Our 2025 numbers might be slightly off then.
Because if you use the numbers in %'s from Piscatella, the NS2 should still be out on top (by a tiny bit, 238k vs 232k).
If we know that unit wise PS5 is supposed to beat the NS2... right?

I'm bad at this stuff... I should just stop it here.
Let others better at this stuff work out final numbers.

Xbox will be around -30% again because Microsoft is artificially constraining the production so it doesn't hurt its margins.

We had to adjust our September 2025 estimates as the PS5 outsold the Switch 2 this month, while using the % changes on the previous figures meant the PS5 was too low. Also had to adjust Xbox Series up slightly for last year.

Updated September 2025 estimates in the US:

  1. NS2 - 277K
  2. PS5 - 212K
  3. XS - 89K
  4. NS - 61K

What exactly to you mean by that?  I'm not seeing Xbox sold out anywhere.  Do you mean by raising the price they are constraining demand?  While plausable, I think calling it artificial at this point is a stretch?  Is Microsoft prioritizing AI?  For sure, but the biggest issue here seems to be the lack of people actually buying whats on the shelves now.

If anything this just confirms that for a major Sony AAA tentpole release, Wolverine underperformed. These kinds of AAA Sony games are games that normally skyrocket to the top of the YTD Circana charts the month they release, Wolverine didn't do that, and also, PSN charts tracking shows that its legs is worse than the typical major Sony AAA release as well. Its also performing worse from the perspective that Wolverine would be more US slated in terms of sales than the typical Sony AAA game. So Wolverine is both underperforming in the US compared to comparable Sony releases, its also performing much worse outside the US in major PS markets like Europe than comparable Sony releases as well.

Wolverine has a real chance of being outsold this year by a low budget Nintendo game like Tomodachi Life in its by far strongest market, the US. That is an underperforming release for the budget level it has.
