Surprise! Mario Kart 8 just got an update for Switch 2, adding high resolution support and up to 8 player splitscreen.

Man… and here I am having left my copy of MK8DX at my parents’ house. :( Would love to give the game a new spin at 4K. Especially as I’m waiting on MKWorld to its big 200cc update… assuming that is coming.

Great to see the update, never thought they would to try and push people to MKW but glad not. Only really interested in the higher resolution and faster loading times but yeah, my favourite mk.

Weird to increase the speed of all characters by 1% (one coin). Such a random pointless change I've got no idea why they did it, won't even be noticeable lol. Only thing it'll affect is all previous speedruns being compromised lol.

Even Nintendo gave up on Mario Kart World.

There is zero evidence of this.

Creating new tracks/worlds for a Switch 2 level game takes time, whereas adding higher resolutions and 8-player support to a Switch1 game is relatively quick and cheap, this is just a little freebie to keep people happy while the main course cooks.

Nintendo always messing up. Where are the 120 fps updates Nintendo? We are not getting any of them. This was the perfect game for it.

Mario Kart Wii with all tracks (SNES, N64 etc, and the new N64 tracks with the new music are amazing) has now been brought to PC through Wheel Wizard. It's amazing. 4k/120fps no problem. Next I'd like to see an added 2 player GP mode, as well as ultra wide support (and my dream, two player split screen with ultra wide split down the middle).
