Great numbers all around however i do suspect many got a switch1 before the price hike in the end of may..hence the great sales??

IDK about a rush before the price rise for SW1 but the negative impact of the price rise won't have hit this quarters shipments. The price rise wasn't until the end of may and if you take into account the lag between consumer sales and shipments it won't really have been reflected.

A combination of pre-price rise in Japan and the launch of Tomodachi will mean next quarter will be much lower for SW1.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was the best selling game of Q1

Reminder that because of the way Nintendo counts the sales of Switch 2 edition games, only the physical edition sales are counted towards the Switch 2 version of the game.

So 1.15m physical copies of Jamboree SW2 is pretty impressive imo.

Tomodachi Life alone outsold all combined first party sales on PS5 and PS4 during the last quarter. The cosy market has become incredibly big, Nintendo can just pluck out a dormant cosy IP like Tomodachi Life from their shelves and it instantly sells faster than a new Resident Evil game.

Nintendogs, where you at when we need you? 😔

Switch 1 doing better than expected. 159m is definitely in the cards, maybe even 160m.

Switch 2 numbers are good as well, but software-wise things are very different. IMO these numbers clearly show that the system is in desperate need of system sellers after MKW.

It all falls on the shoulders of OoT Remake. After that, things should pick up again with (probably) Pokémon Winds/Waves + 3D Mario coming out next year.

Splatoon raiders seems to be selling pretty well at the moment and Pokopia sales are still high.

Pokemon Pokopia: 4.95m (1.27m in Japan, 3.68m outside Japan)

This number is incorrect. The 1.27 million figure is for units sold this quarter outside of Japan. Japanese numbers are closer to 2 million.

Looks like they are on track to slightly exceed Switch2 forecast. I think 17m is doable.

Switch1 forecast remain to be seen with the discontinuation in Europe. It was 110K units the last quarter in this region of a total of 660K. Not the biggest piece of Switch1 sales, but after discontinuation would give an approx 400K yearly gap.

Switch Lite decreased the least both absolute as percentage wise, as would be expected. This one will soldier one for a longgggg time one would suspect.

I don't think the upcoming Switch2 price increase will have a huge effect since it's a much smaller increase compared to Playstation/Xbox. The biggest Switch2 increase was the Japan only model which already happened.

A strong quarter for sure with the Switch 2 nearly at 4m and the Switch 1 doing better than expected only being just over 30% down and outpacing the equivalent quarter for the DS which is quite notable. On the other hand both will of course do worse the next quarter since sales in Japan have slowed down drastically for them and the Switch 1 had its last really big release. Either way this means they'll have no trouble hitting their hardware forecasts.

Hardware is amazing but software is a concern, just 9.46 million sold this quarter compared to 16.41 million for Switch 1 in it's equivalent quarter. After five quarters Switch 2 totals 58.17 million games sold compared to 68.97 million for Switch 1. The Switch 1 had a much lower installbase at this stage but was averaging 3.88 games per console (68.97 divided by 17.79) versus 2.45 games per console for Switch 2 (58.17 divided by 23.68). These $70 and $80 Nintendo games aren't selling like the evergreens did on Switch 1, in fact the legs of these games are really poor by Nintendo's standards.
