Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: Remakes “lead to future developments.”

[Source.] Original quote: "Some people might say there are a lot of remakes, but after five years, a lot of people have outgrown games and stop playing them. Young people today don't have the opportunity to play games from 10 years ago, so remaking them to be more playable and releasing them again is a good way to meet the demand. Letting people know the original games also leads to future developments, so we've been actively pursuing that recently."

Star Fox fans feeling good right now? Who knows, maybe we’ll see a new Another Code or Advanced Wars some day.

This is what some of us been saying all along. It's an industry thing not just a Nintendo one.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I like remakes when they are needed, like Star Fox 64 or Resident Evil 2. Games like Rayman Legends Retold or The Last Of Us Part 1 I dont really see the need for.

Remakes give me life

When done right, remakes bring in a lot of money and can grow the IP. Pretty sure Nintendo bet on Star Fox to make a more original game next.

Absolutely.

I love when struggling franchise or franchises that have been dormant for decades get remasters/remakes/releases. These rereleases help developers remember or get in touch(or back in touch) with what made whatever the franchise is beloved.

this is an excuse. is the argument that people would buy it because its star fox 64 and not a new star fox? it still could have easily just been its own game. there was zero point in making it star fox 64.

Remove Star Fox 64; There are no other universally loved Star Fox games. I understand why they're remaking it. They could have just ignored every other Star Fox and just made a direct sequel to Star Fox 64, but that would alienate people who never played the first one. Considering Fox was in the Mario movie, They are using that as a strike when the flame is hot type move; "Lets reintroduce Star Fox to a whole new crowd with the only game we know everybody likes"
