Well, considering I have... lol

It was first and foremost the infiltration of AI that did it. I'm not about to speak for others, but for me, I just refuse to care about AI-made things.

Then there's Sony's all-digital dystopia. Outside of indie games, I have never bought into digital gaming. It just doesn't do it for me. I have hundreds of shows and movies in my saved-lists across various streaming platforms. I have tons of digital games, AAA ones no less, in my download history from when they would give them away for free. I literally never download or watch any of them. I just don't care about invisible files. They don't appeal to me. I only care about physical ownership and collecting. If I can't hold the game or movie or whatever, I don't care. It might as well not even exist. So where we're headed, this world where AI makes everything and nothing is physical? That's not what attracted me to the industry as a child, and it's not something I care to be a part of now. I'll just keep playing my Atari 2600 all the way through to the PS5 and live out the rest of my life that way. Nothing they make from this point on is likely to be as good as the games that came out during the golden age of the hobby, anyway. I already own almost all of gaming's peak software. I don't need anything else.

The current climate itself already does that to me. With the tendecy of prices as it is, i might quit altogether soon.

Nothing could make me just quit modern games completely. I mean it would have to be a scenario only seen in sci-fi movies. Im a gamer. That will never change.

I'm pretty much there already. I've decided that the Switch 1 will be my last console, that side of the hobby has become unacceptable (paid online, monopolistic online distribution, no physical preservation, hardware prices...), and considering how little I actually update my PC over the years, I'm probably going to be indie-emulators-old switch games for a long time.

You can add me in the when gaming becomes stream only wagon. It's already hard enough to deal with the fact that we buy licences, not games, to add a monthly quote to stream them. F*ck that.

Also AI games. And I don't mean when it's used for coding, which makes sense, but that horrific vision some publishers (and Nvidia) have shared where everything, from start to finish, is AI. No thanks.

Outside of extreme scenarios like losing the ability to play games due to health problems nothing. I fully intend to still be playing new games when I'm a really old man.

My last modern game was DOS 2, I already left. I considered a Switch 2 for OOT (Top 10 game for me), but I would rather purchase an analogue 3D.

For me there are some scenarios where I would quit and some where I don't find it a big deal.

No problem: All digital gaming. I already fought the anti digital war when Steam came out 20 years ago and I lost, I held strong until 2008 and barely bought any digital games until 2012. I was full physical PC and console gaming at the time. Now PC gaming is mostly digital and it is fine so Sony, MS, Nintendo or whoever can do the same.

Maybe I quit: Pricing. If consoles are over 700$, I got much better things to spend my money on. If games themselves are $100, I really could do without. I can buy a bunch of books or movies and be entertained all the same.

Definitely I quit: Ads. If they add ads to gaming, I am out. If they do full streaming, I am out. If they sell portions of games, I am out.

I kinda quit it long time ago. In the last decade or more I have played only just a few new games and really liked only one (TLoU2).
