Seeing how well these casual games are doing on Switch with Rhythm Heaven and Tomadochi Life I'm wondering why Switch Sports Resort is Switch 2 only when I think no one would mind if it was a cross-gen game.

Because exclusives drive hardware adoption and Nintendo wants Switch 1 owners to upgrade to Switch 2.

I really hope Switch 1 stays at 10k :)

If I had to guess:

  1. Switch 2 is otherwise a bit low on exclusives for late 2026
  2. Mouse controls seem to be a big part of the game, with at least skateboarding seemingly being mouse controls only
  3. There might be some subtle improvements to the motion controls in the Joy-Con 2

That was over three years ago, the situation now with Switch 2 having been out for over a year is very different.

I did also say "may well be", not "is".

It is, and it would indeed be cool if there's more.

Crazy that Switch 2 is getting so many first party exclusives that it has the opposite problem of PS/Xbox at the beginning of the gen, people begged PS to stop crossgen while they beg Nintendo now to stop giving Switch 2 such a fast pace of exclusives.
