Have you ever owned a gaming console that was not from one of the "big 4" (Nintendo, Sega, Sony, and Microsoft) and if you have, which one(s) and what was it like? Was it a good console? What did you like/dislike about it?

I actually have an Apple Pippin. It came with a gaming lot I bought like 15 years ago. It doesnt seem to read discs though.

I do love my Evercade Alpha, but its a tabletop arcade, so it probably doesnt count.

I also had a SwanCrystal and Nokia N-Gage, but those are handhelds of course. Not really very interesting systems. The WonderSwan has a few good ones.

My TurboGrafx-16 is in the other room.

I remember as a young child I was interested in the Zeebo. Mainly because it had a new Crash Nitro Kart game, I think it was a port of the iOS games. Thankfully never got one.

I remember looking at the net jet controller too. Not really a system as you needed to plug it into your pc. But was a usb controller that you could put cards into to unlock games. Probably dodged a bullet never getting that as well.

If we count android handhelds as consoles I've owned several.

Commodore, if they count. They kind of sat in the space between gaming platform and PC. But unlike PC/Mac, I'd arguie they were more gaming machines with computer application abilities, rather than computer application machines with gaming abilities.

I also owned something called the Gizmodo, it sat on a shelf until the company vanished. I don't know what happened to it, I was moving around a lot in that time of my life. I think it got misplaced or stolen. Or I gave it away.

My family owned an Odyssey 2 for a brief time back when I was like seven years old. It was secondhand from my uncle. Thing had a full on keyboard, and the one we had had an optional voice module. I remember using this one cart where you could key in words and then hit a button and it would say them back to you. I would call up my friend next door, key in cuss words, and we would crack up as this thing turned drunken sailor on us for what felt like hours. Good times lol.

We also had a 2600, but I consider that part of the "big" group.

No but I did for a while borrow my cousins' Philips Videopac aka Odyssey 2.
People make fun of the cartridge handle, but with later Master System experience, I think that was a good design no matter how silly it looks.

N-Gage lol it was my first phone, but was not an enjoyable experience to play games. Broke on me after like 6 months.

An Amiga CD32, though it was not mine originally and had to give it to his brother later down the road.

The controller looks unwieldly, but it was surprisingly comfortable in my hands - certainly more so than the one of the SNES.

Also in a roundabout way, I have a Megadrive, which is normally from SEGA... but it's a Brazilian Tec Toy variant that somehow found it's way to Europe.

Oh man, I'm envious. I would love one of those. The closest I have is the Mini.

@OP: I still own a 3DO and a Jaguar. They don't come out very often, except for maybe a little Tempest 2000 and Alien vs Predator.

I also have one of those Evercade Super Pockets. And an Atari 2600+ reproduction, if that counts.
