Well thats not really a good way to compare since theres WAY more games releasing digitally than physical. Its not even close. Also a 1 dollar digital game is the same as a 70 dollar physical in this case.

I have seen no proof of that what so ever. And the guy is just saying it. Does he have a link to the evidence of that?

Also he is saying for full games. Not full games that released both digital and physical.

Google helps.

I want to be on your side and hope physical can overcome but it sounds like you're really trying to pick at straws when a blind guy can even see what's happening to physical games.

Sony's own financial reports as of 1 month ago? lol Sorry man, but you gotta stop living under a rock.

You can go through their latest breakdown if you want, but here's a breakdown article I was able to find.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Insomniac leak data from five years ago showed digital was already at 25-50% even for first-party launch titles in what was at the time a small, enthusiastic userbase of early PS5 adopters, so yeah.

So even in the link it says that in the UK(dont know why they only tracked it in one country) it says its at 64% when it comes to digital over physical. Its just all over the place with these numbers. They dont take into account used game sales either which are a huge part of the overall game sales. From Gamestop to Ebay.

Its high for sure, but Im not worried. Its all about how you look at it.

Most damning part of this article:

"For context, digital sales represented just 19% of PlayStation’s software revenue a decade ago. The pandemic pushed that number to 65% in 2020, and it has climbed steadily every year since. Reaching 85% in a single quarter is a landmark moment that reshapes how the industry thinks about distribution, retail, and the very concept of game ownership."

We're not talking PS3 era either. We're talking 2016, a few years into the PS4 lifecycle. If anything, the pandemic accelerated the change from physical to digital.

Not really sure where this majority doesnt care about physical argument comes from. Because of Fortnite? Overwatch? Or what else that never got a physical release to begin with? Just because many people play games that never got a physical release, doesnt mean they dont prefer physical. Lets see what Pokemon Winds/Waves do physical vs digital. Or Marvels Wolverine. If digital surpasses 50%, then fair enough. Unless someone has a good example of a game that got a physical and a digital release on the same day and the digital did better?

Digital sales are over 80% of total sales on Playstation, and even higher on Xbox.

I have no clue about Nintendo but considering the Game Key Card situation it also must be pretty high.

PC is pretty much as close to 100% digital as it can be.

Physical customers are vastly outnumbered for over decade now.
