Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch Sports Resort coming to Switch 2 on the 22nd of October this year

Yeah as someone who had a lot of fun with Wii Sports Resort back in the day (it was the game I got bundled with my Wii in 2009) I am keen for this, the jet ski, plane, and archery in particular look like a nice throwback to the old days.

I imagine this could sell some Switch 2s; Nintendo is going hard this year in capturing the "casual"/blue ocean audience between this, Pokopia, and Tomodachi Life.

I saw this coming given the popularity of Wii/Switch Sports and the lack of huge sellers for Switch 2 this year until now. Switch Sports and OOT Remake are going to sell like crazy.
It looks pretty good. I enjoyed Wii Sports Resort.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 159 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million, then 161 million)

PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

This game gave us the funniest moment of the Direct

I must admit, I got excited for this one as well when they've announced it - I might get it, though I still have Wii hooked up (I just keep coming back to Gran Slam Tennis after all these years).

Given it's highly likely more sports will be added later (Switch Sports I believe got at least one sport added post-launch) I'd like to see swordfighting/kendo return; it was my favourite sport in Wii Sports Resort and it's already in Switch Sports 1 so it shouldn't be too much hassle to add.

Am I the only who thinks this should be on Switch 1? It's a game that really appeals to the casuals and should have no issues running on Switch 1. I know Nintendo wants to move people to Switch 2 but with the upcoming price increase and the fact other casual games like Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven are Switch 1 games then I think this should be on that console also. Like, would anyone be upset if this was also on Switch 1?

It's essentially a matter of incentivising Switch 1 owners to upgrade to Switch 2.

If this was crossgen, they'd be less of a reason to buy the newer console.

I find Nintendo's crossgen policy generally to be abysmal.

How so? Having Switch Sports Resort crossgen wouldn't exactly bolster the case for buying a Switch 2.

That's exactly what I'm saying - they abandon old consoles very quickly once new gen comes.
