Forums - Gaming - So... we're in agreement that this was the greatest E3/SGF season of all time?

Are we in agreement?

Yep. No doubt about that! 3 7.89%

I'd say so, though give it some time. 3 7.89%

It's definitely one of the best! 14 36.84%

I've seen better. 14 36.84%

Meh. 4 10.53%

This was awful! (I hate video games.) 0 0%

I mean … it was ok. No event blew me away, only really cared for 1-3 games per showcase,

SoP: Wolverine and Laufaye were the only highlights. But it was the strongest SoP but that’s such a low bar you wouldn’t be blamed for thinking there was no bar to begin with. I’d rate it a 5/10.

SGF: I usually skip and watch the highlights but it was pretty decent. End of Abyss release date, Mafia TOC DLC/release date and Stellar Blade Blood Rain where the standouts. I’d rate a 6/10.

Xbox: Continues to have the strongest event year after year. Fable release date, A Plague Tale Legacy release date, Metro 2039 gameplay make it an easy 8/10.

Nintendo: Dragons Dogma 2 Expansion (finally). 5/10.

So no, not the best. Whatever year Half Life 3 is announced will be.

My buy list from the whole thing:

- Spyro The Realm Beyond

- Resident Evil Veronica

- Xenoblade Genesis

- Switch Sports Resort

- Onimusha (S2)

- Space Marine 2 (S2)

- Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen

- Trine 6

- Ocarina of Time Remake

- Alien Isolation 2

- Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis (S2)

So in like one week, that's 11 new games I want to get. While no one show rocked my world quite as hard as say Nintendo's E3 2010 or 2014, the cumulative volume of games is terrific, including some I have wanted for ages like a new Spyro and Xenoblade.

So yeah, definitely one of the all time best of my gaming life, though to be fair I wasn't following E3 back in say the 90s.

It was really good, with lots of great announcements. It doesn't come close to something like e3 2006 with the Wii presentation, though. That was just on another level.
But overall, I'm very happy with this year and I'm positively surprised especially by the number of third party games releasing on Switch 2, with some cool all-new announcement as well.

Theres at least 10 games from this list

You are quite...young, aren't you?

Just one highlight from E3 2004:

Around the Network

yes, i love all games presented specially Rhythm Heaven Groove, Spyro, Rayman, Resident Evil Veronica, Zelda , Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, Wolverine, Gears of War and Crazy Taxi

Bolded games are what I'm looking forward to.  Regular text are games that I have no interest in or need to be convinced on.

- Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams [TBD]
I absolutely loved Dragonquest 8 and 11S. Hopefully the series can maintain its charm despite losing much of its original dev team. The loss of Akira in particular makes me worry about monster design.

- Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World [December 3, 2026]
Ditto.

- Final Fantasy VII: Revealation [Spring 2027]
I haven't even played the first one of these but they are in my collection. It will be nice to be able to jam out on all three in one massive play session.

- Final Fantasy Resonance [October 22, 2026]
Yeah, I'll take another HD-2D game. |

- God of War Laufey [TBD]
God of War 2 was kind of a letdown compared to the first. There were too many loading areas hidden behind "climbable vines" and "narrow caves". It will be nice for this one to finally just use the PS5 and ditch PS4.

- Until Dawn 2 [2027]
Meh.
- Bancho the Chef (from team behind Dave the Divers) [TBD]
What is this?

- Rayman Legends Retold + Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition (free pack-in) [October 1, 2026]
I already own these.

- Stuntman Hollywood [TBD]
Meh.

- Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake [2027]
Okay, this should be good! Capcom puts a ton of love and care into their RE:makes. They are usually completely revamped.

- Mighty Cuphead Adventure [TBD]
I need to pre-order this so I can play it on my modded SMS to a CRT. Gotta love how Sega consoles never really die. Indie devs just keep making games for Megadrive, Dreamcast, and SMS.

- Cuphead 2 [TBD]
Looks great!

- Alien Isolation 2 [TBD]
I haven't even played the first one yet, but it's still in my collection.

- genATLAS [TBD]
?? What is this?

- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin (Platinum Games) [TBD]
TNMT? Meh. Developed by Platinum? Okay, now I'm interested!

- Star Wars: Zero Company [August 27, 2026]
Don't know, dont care.

- Guild Wars 3 [TBD]
What?

- Gundam Rogue Orbit [2027]
Maybe?

- Attack on Titan 3 [2026]
Meh.

- Lords of the Fallen II [Fall 2026]
Meh.

- Grounded 2 [August 11, 2026]
Obsidian can do no wrong.

- Clutch (from the teamed founded by former Forza Horizon director) [Spring 2027]
What's this?

- Stellar Blade: Blood Rain [TBD]
Yeah, more Stellar Blade!

- The Wolf Among Us 2 [2027]
Okay...

- Senua [2027]
I'll play this if it comes to PS5 with a real physical copy.

- Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember [Early 2027]
Interesting.

- Metro 2039 [February 2027]
Can't wait to get mauled by blind gorillas again.

- State of Decay 3 [2027]
Garbage like all State of Decay games.

- Resonance: A Plague Tale [August 27, 2026]
Looks cool.

- Spyro: A Realm Beyond [Spring 2027]
Who is making this? Spyro has been dead for decades upon decades.

- Persona 4 Revival [February 18, 2027]
Meh. A remake.

- Persona 6 [TBD]
I loved Persona 5 but God damn it was long. Please not another 170 hour long game.

- Crazy Taxi: World Tour [2027]
Trailer looks cool I guess.

- Virtua Fighter: Crossroads [2027]
I've never really played VF but I want to.

- Minecraft Dungeons II [September 29, 2026]
Meh. Minecraft is so simplistic it hurts. Just about any indie dev can make something more interesting these days. It's like Skyrim. Horribly aged and boring.

- Deltarune Chapter 5 [June 24, 2026]
Can't wait to play this when it's complete.

- Kingdom Heart IV [TBD]
TBD. AKA coming in 10 more years.

- Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet [Spring 2027]
WTF is Ninjala?

- Xenoblade Trilogy: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition [Throughout 2026]
I'm getting real tired of buying Nintendo games a 2nd and 3rd time.

- Xenoblade Genesis [2027]
Yay! I love the Xenoblade series so a new one will be great.

- Nintendo Switch Sports Resorts [October 22, 2026]
Zzzzzz.

- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake [2026]
Another remake? Haven't we had enough of these? It would have to be pretty revolutionary compared to the N64 original to get me interested.

?? What is this? Project led by Ueda (director of works such as The Last Guardian, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus) under his recently founded indie studio, genDESIGN.

- Star Wars: Zero Company [August 27, 2026]
Don't know, dont care. Tactics RPG led by former XCOM and Civilization developers. (With FE:FW dropping in September, however, I'm very torn between which of the two to choose from. Don't want to be playing too many XCOM-like games.)

- Spyro: A Realm Beyond [Spring 2027]
Who is making this? Spyro has been dead for decades upon decades. Toys for Bob. Same team behind the Reignited Trilogy (2018), Crash 4 (2020), as well as Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure (2011). IMO they are among the best in the industry, and have pumped out nothing but bangers since their founding. Highly recommend keeping an eye on this project.

- Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet [Spring 2027]
WTF is Ninjala? Ninjala is a pretty big indie. New release is an open world action adventure. Looks like it could be fun, though I'm personally not super interested. I know a lot of people online who are though.

- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake [2026]
Another remake? Haven't we had enough of these? It would have to be pretty revolutionary compared to the N64 original to get me interested. Watch the teaser trailer. It's a complete reimagining, not just a one-to-one modern-day reskin. Game looks utterly gorgeous! If you like anything Zelda, then I'd imagine you will love this game. Highly recommend keeping an eye out on this one as well.

It was not the greatest

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

I don't even remember all the best E3s, but I'm going to guess that this isn't even all that close. That said, this was still pretty good, or at least it feels that way compared to some of the recent years (which I also don't remember, but I reckon I'd at least remember if they were particularly good).
