Personally I don’t care, if the game is good I will buy it.

Bizarre choice, considering the game must not be that much of a drain of resources. Maybe they are just testing the waters to see if it has that much of an effect sales-wise, it's not like Crazy Taxi is one of their heavy hitters.
By the way, wasn't the original on Steam? I could swear they released it there.

I can't condone murder for any reason, nor destroying someone's property. But as I've said before, the latter is going to happen. It's just a matter of time. American's have done worse over taxation. It's inevitable. |
I don't really condone murder, but Brian Thomson was such an unethical bitch that it's too hard to feel bad for him, especially compared to the clients he cheated out of life saving health insurance claims, which he did through AI by the way. It was a new low for private healthcare.

If you're going to outrage everytime a company uses some kind of AI for their games, soon you will have to stop gaming at all.

I don't mind AI being used in a support role, such as to do mundane repetitive tasks faster. I do mind it when it completely replaces all human art.

Well guess what? That's what a lot of selfish and stupid employers wanna do. Then there won't be enough people with money to afford their products.

The moral high ground?
Bullshit. Absolute bullshit. You're so worried about the environment but you don't have a problem soaking up electricity wasting time online? What about the strip mines required for all the rare earths in your consumer electronics? What about the data centers required so you can play video games? Did you protest Nintendo getting into online gaming?
Reminds me of those hipsters protesting a lithium mine with iPhones in their hands.
And you're worried about jobs? Do you protest robotics taking jobs away from blue collar workers? Do you boycott the automotive industry or other industries that have steadily replaced people with robotics? Why don't I ever see writers, artists, or tech people talking about that? Oh, I know--because they didn't give a fuck until it affected them.
Remember what I said before when you complained about AI image generation? "Learn to code". That's what people online told factory workers when they were losing their jobs by the thousands. They were told to adapt. So, there you go.
I don't give a damn if you like AI or not but no one respects a fanatic who is also a hypocrite.

AI data centers and regular data centers are not the same. We had regular data centers in 2012. Not to mention that regular data centers are not needed to play single-player games. Also, the impact that individual consumers have on the environment is negligible. You might as well be yelling at him about his "Carbon Footprint". https://interestingengineering.com/culture/carbon-footprint-coined-by-big-oil-to-blame-you-for-climate-change Stop trying to blame individual consumers like him when giant corporations are the real problem.

^This. I try to make compromises, like carpooling, composting, reusing certain things instead of throwing them away, and helping animals in my area. Nobody's a perfect environmentalist.

Of course they're not the same but they're damn sure worse than if they didn't exist. No one with a brain can dispute that. Simply being a gamer means using far more electricity and rare earth minerals than not being a gamer--so why aren't they protesting gaming companies?
I mean, you DO understand that giant corporations only answer demand, right? Suggesting that individual consumers have no impact so they can just do whatever they want is one way to look at it, I suppose, but it seems like a massive cop-out.
My point is that the line in the sand will ALWAYS be just beyond what is convenient and this "moral high ground" is so they can pat themselves on the back while still consuming as much as they want.
