Forums - Nintendo - Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis coming to Switch 2 Febuary 12th 2027

I prefer the older character model (from tomb raider 2013 to shadow). In my opinion that model looks weird... remembers me some porn actress.

If someone say that Lara looks ugly, Istg

Anyway, this is the game I'm most interesting in from the presentation, classic Lara is back, or at least the closest she got from being back since 2008, and those TR1 levels are looking great in modern graphics. I had conviction we would see this game on the NS2 and now I can't wait.

She's far from ugly, on the contrary, but (apart from physical things) she doesn't radiate any of badassery that original Lara had - this one is like temporary stand-in, while real Lara arrives to the set.

I honestly don't know how you got that from the trailer. I said classic Lara was *close* to being back, because personally I don't see the sassiness of classic Lara in there, specially not of the original Eidos Lara with that British accent she had, I miss that Lara. But, I really don't see how you didn't get badassery from that trailer.

As I said, to me she feels like a stand-in for a real thing - which is at least some small improvement, since Reboot "Lara" was completely cringe worthy.

Funny and somewhat predictable that the more character become realistic, the more picky people are about the way they look. Maybe even more so compared to movie castings etc. And of course it applies more to female characters than male ones too.

I do think its a negative trend... Everyone wants their exact perfect match, whereas with a film casting you accept on some level that there is a real person, with fixed features picked for individual talents and an energy they deliver to the role which goes beyond a few snippets. I think the same can be applied to digital creations. Unless there's something glaringly wrong with the design, lets just use a bit of imagination to presume we'll grow to get used to the features and not always make it a top complaint lol

While there's a place for realism in games, for something like Tomb Raider I actually like it better when its a bit over the top with dinosaurs, short shorts, impossible acrobatics, etc, it's just more fun to me.

I did enjoy the 2013 game and Rise of the Tomb Raider for what they were, don't get me wrong, but this looks more like my cup of tea.

Yeah, I find that introducing realism to TR was really bad fit for IP - TR was always pulpy, and Lara was always that sort of hero (well, anti-hero really). Personally, I would love to see art style going back to more stylized Lara, like she was always portrayed on cover arts, and later, when tech allowed, in games.

Agree, 2013 and Rise were well made third person action games, but they didn't really feel like Tomb Raider. I still enjoyed them, but the pulp was always a big part of the appeal of the series.

Hopefully, they're moving away from gritty realism and toward original TR concepts - as much as I'm not particularity impressed with what I've seen so far, if gameplay is at least back to Legend Trilogy era, I'm more than willing to give new games a go.
