IP familiarity is definitely a factor; of note, RE Requiem on sold about 4:1 better on PS5 while Pragamata as a new IP is 2.5:1 so considerably closer.
AAA blockbusters in general appealing more to the PS5 base is definitely a thing as well, yeah, just cos that's been the platform's selling point for 20 years now, plus some Switch 2 owners also having a PS5, but Pragmata does demonstrate that series association does seem to be part of it.

I'm trying to find out if that's the case. Since retailers purchase units weeks in advance for the previous asking price it's safe to assume once that inventory sells out and the units with the updated price comes in that's when the price increases. We've seen that in the U.S. where PS5's were still at the old price for 2-3 weeks before increasing. If this is the case then I can see why the PS5 and PS5 Pro sold as much as last year, but if that's not the case then I would be shocked the price increase barely affected those sales. Then again Golden week is this week so sales might have increased in anticipation for that.

That doesn't explain why the PS5 and Pro sold just 1k the the first week of price hike. I think people were just shocked at the price increase and everything is back to normal for PS5 sales. It's been selling around 10k for over a year now. Should easily reach 600-700k this year

Hmm… you know, one theory that does come to mind is that maybe not all retailers have enforced the recent price hikes? Perhaps they’re looking to clear out inventory to levels where they known supply and demand will meet more optimally.
Looks like S2 has a new baseline. Pragmata looks to have had a better start on it compared to RE9... at least proportionally.
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

By the way, last installment of Tomodachi life had released in the same time frame , it had a significant increase in golden week! Fingers crossed of Tlife pulling 200k that week to reach 1m at retail!

A fair amount must be imports! 139700 yen is 760 euros ,140 less than european price...

You have got to be kidding me. What about the Switch 2? The one not region locked is 90 euro less so I guess a fair amount must also be imports!
