Forums - Sales - Bloomberg: Nintendo to cut Switch 2 production by 30%

Sadly I expect the PS5 to get another price increase in 2027 if things stay as bad as they are now.

Either that or PS+ is getting another substantial price increase and games embrace the $80 price tag.

I think Nintendo has room to sell the NS2 at loss if they want to, to avoid it, but it wasn't ever really their thing to sell hardware at a loss.

PSN+ will get a price increase and drive me further away from Sony.  I loathe, absolutely loathe, paying for online.

PSN is no more brother, Sony already killed its name too.

I don't like it either, btw. I was decided to let it expire for good this year but they gave me a discount to not to, so one more year of it for me, but definitely not excited to keep it up at all.

Doomers be dooming. Matt Piscatella put it best: The spiritual successor to “The Switch story is losing steam” (from late-2018/early-2019) has arrived.

Also: In what world was Nintendo planning to ship 6mil consoles during Q4FY26?

I got it on discount too!  Every year when they do their sale, I just get the top level at a 30% discount.  Paid about $100 for the year.

They don't let me use the sales period anymore because I'm already subbed, so I decided to cancel it, to maybe get it the next year, when I did they threw me a 25% to resub before my year expired, and as I usually buy credit for the store online at a discount I decided to do so.

I only sub for the Essential tier tho, hopefully never giving them more money than strictly necessary.

What bothers me is I don't play online, don't like it, except for Souls... I just want to hope online a few hours here and there..  $80 for maybe 20 hours a year annoys the living crap out of me.  Sony should offer free for low volume players, such as myself.

If the prices go up then I can see Nintendo cutting production. And it is generally suggested that prices on ram and whatnot will go up this year.

4m is still high, don't get that fierce doubting of the Bloomberg report.
NS2 has not taken off in the USA, owing to the well known situation about tariffs etc and also being pricey regardless and a probable price hike on the way.
In Japan it's having an outstanding sales performance, popularity, weaker yen and affordable region locked version (to prevent importing). NS2 price is just 300€ in Japan.
Nintendo could be also anticipating the next presidential elections or a court victory before.
Who knows maybe they even plan to offset that two million units deficit with NS1 or a NS2 lite!

6 million THIS quarter? Like january to march? Who the hell expected that to happen?

Switch 2 was never going to sell as well as the first one, even in the best-case scenario. Switch 1 was innovative, whereas the second iteration doesn’t really do anything new besides offering more power. I must admit, though, that it did bring us paid tutorials.

Yet it is outselling the Switch by a big margin rn... without Mario or Zelda

As others have pointed out, Takashi Mochizuki doesn't have the best track record. Now if this was from Jason Schreier that would be a different story. He is the most reliable journalist in gaming.
