So it's been leaked early and man the technology is insane. It depends on the individual game but one like Forza Horizon 6 that is aiming for pure realism with the environments and car models is genuinely perfect for it. The visual improvement over the normal visuals is big and it looks truly incredible and even outright life like at points.
Stuff like animation is gonna be a bottleneck now since ultra realistic graphics with video gamey human animation quality isn't exactly an ideal combination but GTA 6 with its focus on realism and high quality animation should benefit a lot from it so DLSS 5 will a significant selling point of the PC version of that.

Now that's what I call a good demonstration. It looks great.

Honestly after seeing this tech in Death Stranding 2, I am convinced this is the next generation leap that people are looking for. Imagine this kind of graphics or better for Switch 3 🤤

PS. Sorry there's no button to share it as a video on mobile.

NBA2K27 is another good example. It looks bonkers compared to the normal visuals. There's room for improvement but it's clear that this is the future of real time rendering and is gonna do a ton for making photorealistic visuals way, way easier to achieve in the coming years. Assuming RDNA 5 will be capable of this then the PS6 and Xbox Helix are gonna be releasing at a good time tech advancement wise. Neural rendering will be a way those consoles will have wow factor over the current gen ones. |
Yeah, but the problem is that FSR 4.1 is still being behind DLSS 4.0 in some aspects. PS6 will struggle with both path tracing and neural rendering enabled. The console is supposed to have the TDP of 170W according to the rumours, which is not helping. While something like Switch 3 might use even more advanced version of neural rendering. Given Nvidia huge advantage at ray tracing and frame generation, I believe only S3 will be able to render something better than presented examples.
It shows huge potential to improve on already used RT in the future, if devs use it with care, but so far all I'm seeing is usual yassified shit and AI copy of cheap cinematogrpahy.

Holy crap. This one bears repeating.
Still some flaws like ghosting and such, but there are moments when it feels like a real broadcast.

I really dislike DLSS as a concept. TVs boasted something similar years back, and it made The Matrix look blue. All the fake frames that it generated didn’t have the right colour, so it gave the illusion of the real ones being blue as well.
DLSS may have improved on a technological level, but it still imposes itself upon the artistic intent of the developers when it creates its own frames.
It is censorship in real-time if we remember the AI simulated content instead of the game itself.

DLSS is an upscaling technique, not AI filter tech like neural rendering. The main purpose of AI upscaling like DLSS is to deliver correct looking images upscaled from lower resolution with anti aliasing applied to them. Neural rendering is a completely different technology using various coordinates, 3D data, vectors etc. to create an image through the use of machine learning and algorithms. So some people might not like neural rendering, but the majority will want to use upscaling, especially when performance is low. Now, the biggest misstep that Nvidia made IMO is to add neural rendering under DLSS tech stack. If they categorized NR under different name like Reflex or PhysX, then the negative feedback wouldn't be that profound.
