Forums - Gaming - What are your favorite modern racing games?

What are your favorite racing videogames? Aside from Forza it's not really a genre I'm all that into for modern consoles. So I wanted some good recommendations for racing games made in the last decade.

I also made a thread for the retro forums with a similar topic. https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=250269

GT7, MK 8 DX/World and F-Zero 99.

Mario Kart is the only racing game i currently play and enjoy.

Its been decades since ive enjoyed games like Gran Turismo or Forza, tho ill admit i havent tried them in a long while, im just not interested in "realistic" (or pseudo-realistic) racing games anymore.

GT7 is the only one I play now, the best in VR

I don't race online anymore, contact free racing is gone.

Curious what Forza Horizon 6 may bring, 5 was just OK, 4 was better, earlier ones the best. I'm hoping Turn 10 can make it fun and rewarding to play again, not throw you cars and nonsense every race. It felt longer to get through all the rewards screens and wheel spins than the actual race lol.

Cruis'n Blast. Takes me back to the best era of racing games when arcade games ruled supreme. Also were not afraid to be over the top. Now everything is too serious and focused on graphics to the point of being boring. Some have become like Madden. Same game as last year but a slightly different roster.

I also like Horizon Chase Turbo and Hot Shots Racing. Former is a nod to Top Gear of the 16-Bit era and the latter is a love letter to SEGA Arcade Model 2 games.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Mario Kart World/8/Wii for being pure fun, Sonic Racing Transformed for also being a damn well made arcade racer, Fast Fusion for scratching that F-Zero itch.

Besides MKWorld/8Deluxe/Wii, I’d say Kirby Air Ride(rs) are very solid racing titles.

Wipeout HD deserves a mention as a stellar sendoff for the series; such a shame it didn't continue though.
The Forza Horizon games were also fun.

Seconding these, I've always preferred racers that are more stylized and accessible, realistic sim-style racers like Gran Turismo or the mainline Forza Motorsport titles bore me.

GT7 never bores me. Creating custom races is endless fun :)

Enjoying the sound of the 787B by putting 20 different ones on the track, racing into the sunset.
(Just the first lap here)

Wipeout in VR is the best racer I have ever played, I'm sure GT7 in VR would be my top pick but I have not played it, I just knownit would be cause the base game is great, it might eclipse Wipout VR. However, asides from these Project CARs and DIRT Rally were the best I had played, Project CARS is flawed but my god it was so good at the time that the second couldn't match it and DIRT rally/Dirt 4 on highest difficulty were phenomenal but even more so with a racing wheel.
