Unreal Tournament (19 years)

Warcraft was iffy for me due to WoW expansion dates and WoW classic Re releases so I didn't think about it lol.

Classic seems like a bit of stretch but I suppose the expansions are basically full games if you're still actively playing. Haven't played a new expansion since Legion though.

Honestly Retail is a bit of stretch too, is it really the same game series?

True, true, that's why I wrote both time since WoW and Warcraft 3. Luckily I like both.

Try out my free game on Steam

2025 OpenCritic Prediction Leagues

I will lost games with at least 3 entries which is when I can call it really a franchise:

Dark Souls and From Soft Souls Adjacents: 1 year (Elden Ring Nightreign) and there is another game coming this year!

Persona: 2 years (Persona 3 Reload)

Civilization: 1 year (Civ 7)

Final Fantasy: 2 years (FF 7 Rebirth)

Fire Emblem: 3 years (FE Engage) but there is a new game coming this year!

Resident Evil: 3 years (RE4 Remake), with another coming in few weeks

Zelda: 2 years (Echoes of Wisdom)

Octopath Travaler: Couple of months ago (Octopath 0)

Crash: 3 years (Crash Team Rumble)

Many of my favorite series are dead like Deception, Clock Tower, Mass Effect, Dead Space and Oddworld.
At least Konami released new Silent Hill and Castlevania metroidvania, that's an improvement.
Now they must release a modern RPG like when they released RPGs in PS1/PS2 era.

Unreal Tournament (19 years)

The worst part was that I actually tried to play some UT 2004 last night and only now did I think to mention it.

Though that might be due to the sound difficulties I was having for some reason (extremely distorted Mickey-Mouse voices for everyone - great for taunts... NOT!)

Valkyria Chronicles is one of my big ones.

Also:

Ni no Kuni - 8 years

Lunar - 20 years (I was grateful to just get Lunar Remastered Collection)

Legend of Zelda - 3 years (no sequel in sight)

Ultima - 27 years

Fallout - 8 years (76), 10 yars (4)

Virtua Fighter - 20 years since VF5 originally released, unless you count FS, US, and REVO as separate releases

Kid Icarus - 14 years, but almost 40 years since it had an actual console release

Sakura Wars - 6 years

Star Fox - 10 years

Fire Emblem.- 3 years, but at least it's getting a sequel this year

Devil May Cry - 7 years

SoulCalibur - 8 years

Story of Seasons - 5 years since Pioneers of Olive Town, though since I didn't play Grand Bazaar on DS, I guess that makes it a new game to me

Final Fantasy Tactics - Not counting the remasters of Tactics on PSP and modern hardware, 19 years

Breath of Fire - 24 years since Dragon Quarter (I don't count the FTP game called BoF6)

Shining series - 8 years since Shining Resonance Refrain (which itself was a remaster of a 2013 game)

I'm a Starfox fan.

10 years since the last one, 29 years since the last good one.
