Around the Network

battle of the last gens is heating up who will win this year... PS5 or NS1

Switch 2 may have come down a bit in the west, but it's still doing crazy good in Japan.

It appears Mario Kart World Bundle was discontinued.

Animal Crossing taking two of the top four spots lmao. Nook takes no prisoners.

FFVII Rs decline isn't too bad, JRPGS tend to be north of 80% from my recollection

The Switch 2 ends its first month already selling over 500k so a very strong start. I thought something like 4-4.5m would happen this year for something a decent amount higher than the Switch 1's 2018 but I clearly have underestimated just how huge demand is for it in Japan. The Switch 1 on the other hand has its worst week ever almost dropping below 10k for the first time so it does look like week 3 was probably an outlier.

It is two thirds down YoY so far which if that continues will match my prediction for it exactly. Now to see if it drops below 10k for the first time soon or is this an abnormal week in the other direction. And the PS5 is back above 10k which doesn't count for much but is something. It's a bit under 20% down so far which is decent but the gap is gonna get a lot bigger soon.

Solid hold for NS2! Not so solid for NS1... definitely looks like the system is entering its final phase. Down over 75% YoY.

Also, funny coincidence I just noticed: It was Animal Crossing: New Horizons v. Final Fantasy VII Remake in Spring 2020. Now, on Nintendo Switch 2, the battle is back in 2026 but for NS2. (And Animal Crossing is looking to sweep again.)

That's a sharp drop of Switch 1. It looks like worldwide weekly numbers could already drop below 50k, which would make it rather unlikely to reach 160M after all is said and done.

Switch 1 will increase next week !
