Best average The Legend of Dragoon, averaging position 1.5 xD

@Darashiva #2, mine #1

If only more people could see the greatness.

Thanks for all the work both to the OP and axum, really appreciate it.

Best average, asterisk*. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has a 1.0 average, but they won't dare put that there...

All joking aside, thank you so much @UnderwaterFunktown and @axumblade for hosting the event this year! You're madmen for adding more information to the Top 100 post, I dreaded making that one every year but hey, getting rid of platforms probably makes up for it, that took a lot of effort too. I endorse this decision, platform rankings were an increasingly difficult mess to list with each passing year, and in my opinion, the least interesting information. It also makes compiling data much easier if you don't need to list the platforms.

By the way, look at #57 again, I think you made a little mishap there.

I hope this event keeps going on and on, and hopefully more people join in future years. It usually feels like a lost cause, but this year was an outlier for obvious reasons, so who knows. Again thank you guys so much for hosting it.

Big thanks to Underwater and axum for keeping this greatest tradition alive!

I need some time to properly review the list, but I can celebrate one thing already: Deus Ex cracking the top 100. I have been waiting for this for the longest time. Obviously I’d prefer it was in the top 5, but I will gladly take top 100. After all, it was at #269 just two years ago.

Sure you recognize the alternative box art for Majora's Mask? :P

Jk will fix it when I get home today. And yeah also forgot to write that best averages are minimum 2 votes but I figure that's pretty easy to tell from the list.

And you're very welcome, it was fun to host it (and also quite a bit of work, but hey now I've learned the trade).

As much as I think Nintendo is overrepresented here, I do agree that OoT and BotW are worthy of #1 and #2.

My own takes on the results:

Super stoked to finally see World of Warcraft in the top 100 and pretty high at that, very underrated game as far as classics go. Generally this seems like a great year for PC games for some reason which is cool.

My number #2 Warcraft 3 also increased a lot this year and my #1 Tales of Symphonia jumped 7 spots as well (at the cost of its godlike average of 1.33 from last year) so not a bad year for my top games.

Clair Obscur really made an incredible debut. I'm a bit miffed that it's higher than Persona 5, but I do feel it belongs in the top 20 as far as mainstream releases go.

And finally Final Fantasy VII Remake somehow fell 26 spots despite debuting as number 13 on my list 🙃 Oh well, maybe Rebirth stole some of its votes, though I still hold Remake is the more refined game of the two.

Impressive debuts for both E33 and Silksong! I'm surprised E33 is already #1 this decade. I finally started Elden Ring recently and I can already tell it will crack my top 50 next year so we'll see how the rankings go next time.

Switch: SW-3707-5131-3911
XBox: Kenjabish

A staggering undertaking as usual and much appreciated. I love that Stardew Valley made it into the Top 100. It's my favorite game.

My takes:
No surprises in the very top. Still very Nintendo-heavy (5 Marios, 3 Zeldas), would be nice with some variation, but well, the games are great. Also reminds me that I have to get around to play Chrono Trigger eventually, I don't know why I never manage to do it. Ocarina seems to have re-established itself as the best Zelda game and the all-time greatest game. I am all for it. As amazing as Breath of the Wild is, it also has some very apparent flaws, Ocarina of Time seems to have less of that, and is just the more concise and emotional experience. It is kind of the Citizen Kane of video games, so I think it deserves the top spot.

Happy to still see Resident Evil 4 in the top 10, even if it lost a few spots. Along with Shadow of the Colossus and Hollow Knight it seems to be the only ones close to the top that aren't either Nintendo games or RPGs.

Also positive to see the 80s get a bit more love again. SMB3 was a given, as always. But having both Tetris and Mega Man 2 in the top 3 is a pleasant surprise. I think these three games are the three 80s classics that hold up the best (Galaga may also come close). I put Tetris as my number 1 this year, which undoubtedly allowed it to enter the top 100. I think the game embodies pure gameplay like no other game, and is perfect for what it is.

Also good to see DOOM (1993) so high, the reboot has been up there for some years, but I think the original is still so perfect, that it should rightfully be in the top 100. Also good Sonic 2 has kept it's spot in the top 100.
Another good surprise was to see The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the top 100, the remaster has probably given it a boost. 2025 was the year where I finally gave it a proper play through (not the remaster though), and I had to put it very high on my list, and unfortunately punish Skyrim a bit, as I could see that Oblivion exceeds it in the most important areas.

As a having Mirror's Edge in my number 3 spot, I am also positively surprised to see it almost cracking the top 100, thanks to another top 10. Few games feel as unique, beautiful and pure as that. Hope it will break through in the future.

Sad to see that I am the only voter for my #2 Sonic X Shadow Generations, #5 Nights into Dreams..., #9 Panzer Dragoon Saga (okay, that one is expected), #10 Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, #12 Tempest 2000 and #13 REZ.

Also sad to see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt dropping and Inside not making the top 100. Why Alien Isolation and Silent Hill 2 (remake) didn't score better also disappoints me a bit.

This is a better game list than IGN or similar sites. I am baffled by how Skyrim remains so high. The game has been outdone by everything by now and it doesn't carry any nostalgic charm like Mario or Zelda.

Also, Holy Crap! I need to play Lies of P, Vampire Survivors and E33. And Stellar Blade. Those games absolutely killed it for being so new!

Yeah maybe I just missed how impactful it was at the time as I didn't play it til the following gen, but Skyrim, while a good game, never wowed me.

The combat was clunky, and the world lacked variety; after a while I realized I was just traversing the same alpine environments revisiting the same tomb/cave full of zombies over and over again with little variation.
